Forums - Sales - Study measures holiday buying intent, Wii leads

Interesting study measuring buying intent for the holidays. Wii of course leads by a pretty hefty margin.

http://www.gamedaily.com/articles/news/wii-tops-xbox-360-ps3-trails-in-consumer-purchase-intent/?biz=1

  • U.S. consumer has set aside $500 for holiday spending, which is down six percent from 2007
  • video game consumers on average have budgeted about $200 more than the consumers in general, for a total holiday budget of $700
  • Nintendo's Wii leads the pack. 36 percent
  • The Xbox 360 also had strong representation with 29 percent
  • Sony's PS3, however, was way down at 19 percent, which was only two percent higher than PS2. The firm attributed this to the PS3's "heftier price tag."
  • Nintendo systems resonate far better with the female audience, and those shopping for women are more likely to plan on purchasing a Nintendo system and much less likely to purchase an Xbox 360

Will nintendo ever need to drop the price? Sheesh.

Wii the first console perfect storm... No price concessions required.

The fad is... almost...... over...

hehehe

Has any other console ever held its price constant for two years straight from launch?

Not to my knowledge.  And actually in about 7 months the Wii will be 31 months into its life which is the same time that the PS2 was recieving it's second price drop from $300 at launch down to $180.  In effect the PS2 had dropped 40% of its price in the same amount of time.

The X360 actually held the record until it received a price drop at 22 months.  Now the Wii obviously holds that distinction.

The rEVOLution is not being televised

360 in more demand than wii next year confirmed?

Ya think!?
