In North America, I guess it´s already pretty safe to say the PS3 will never catch the 360.

Worldwide..who knows...but if it does, it won´t be before 2010, I imagine.

well 360 numbers were expected anyhow so im not to impressed with them...........ps3 numbers are very good when u consider surroundings.........if 360 was at ps3 price i doubt 360 wud even sell 50k worldwide...........i really dont understand all the sony fanboy panic its not the last yer of the gen..........sony are obviously going to price cut in 2009 and with the highly anticipated games in 2009 ps3 will b a winner...........the highly probable 2009 gt5 and ff13 wud nullyfy the 360 holiday boost easily ontop of that it wud eat into at least half of 360's temporary lead anyhow.........lol at those who claim doom on a console just becuse at that current time its not selling as much as rival.........360 wasnt doomed most of the yer was it.................grow up

PS3 is still selling healthily for it's price point and you'll find it's probably still generating more revenue than the 360 is despite the sales differences.

More revenue, yes, but that's just because it sells for a higher price.  More profits, no.

I said "revenue" for a very specific reason ( and it's not exactly clear how much profit MS is making of their cut price 360's so you can't really talk about profits of hardware) . You have to have a more desirable product to generate more revenue with less units sold , it's as simple as that.

no... just a  more expensive one.

Exactly what I tried to tell him, but he was clueless.  A system selling 91k units at an average price of $420 (with the 160gb model sales), would give revenue of 38.2M.  A system selling 190k units at an average $260 (with a majority of arcade model sales) would give revenue of 49.4M.  Even if every console was the Arcade model revenue = 38M, which obviously won't be the case.  So I guess Sony takes less revenue AND less units sold, thus the entire argument you had is gone.

Note I said "probably" I wasn't aware of how wide the sales gap between the two were , I don't think it's been this big for a while.

So what you expected for Xbox 360?
It frikkin costs 189?.
vs 479e.
=290?.
You can buy both PSP and Ds with it.
Or buy Xbox 360 and Wii.
Parents are going "o my son needs that console which should I buy"? Hmmm Ps3 479? geez or hmm XBox 360 for 189?.
Hmmm.
Hmm.

you blame MS for offering a equivalent product for a better price? I don't get your frustration. Are you angry, because the competition is cheaper? Well MS is profitable with a 170? SKU, Sony is not, with 400?.

Great point . MS is going to have a great fiscal quarter despite the low hardware prices . The arcade is going to cause nightmares to some people for years to come. Imean if an199$ arcade is causing so much damage i can't wait to see what an 149$ (or 129$) arcade sku is going to do .

Funny.

Sales are looking for for everyone, but Sony.

Dude, you're sayin that in every thread you participate and in any god damn comment you leave in ANY news story.

You'd better start believing it yourself, first of all, and then try persuading others.

Anyway, it is getting boring and predictable.

Remember the "old" comment from Sony: the more units they sell, the more money they lose. Low PS3 hardware sales = higher profit!

(they just want that software to sell...)

Fix'd ;)

If you were comparing items that sold in there 10's - 100's then you might have a point , but we're looking at mass market products , you can't generate more revenue than your closest competitor simply by making your console more expensive , doing that will almost certainly kill your sales unless the consumer feels the product justifies the price.

Guess how well the 360 would perform at the PS3's current price point or vice versa.

Is skeeuk trolling/insulting or anything? cause im LMAO that is one weak reaction
