You have to have a more desirable expensive product to generate more revenue with less units sold , it's as simple as that.

Fix'd ;)

that doesn't really change what I said about the inaccuracy of the data whatsoever.

It changes everything you just said...

What will "Chill"ing do if the 360 does sell more according to NPD??

Haven't you yet learned not to correct kingofwale's silly (and probably purposeful) mistakes? ;)

Benga, how do you think Kaz Hirai & Co. are feeling in all those internal meetings?

The 360 is at the price point where PS2 people are getting on board. The PS2 is making money for Sony now. If the 360 starts eating into PS3 AND PS2 sales, Sony winds up in a world of hurt.

wii numbers drop? so either stores hoarding for black friday or consumers waiting for black friday

The wii is IN STOCK at every retailer right now, so i doubt the retailers are holding anything back.

It's not like they even need that to happen to end up in a world of hurt. The way things are going, they almost need a miracle for that not to happen.

PS3 is still selling healthily for it's price point and you'll find it's probably still generating more revenue than the 360 is despite the sales differences.

More revenue, yes, but that's just because it sells for a higher price.  More profits, no.

I said "revenue" for a very specific reason ( and it's not exactly clear how much profit MS is making of their cut price 360's so you can't really talk about profits of hardware) . You have to have a more desirable product to generate more revenue with less units sold , it's as simple as that.

no... just a  more expensive one.

Exactly what I tried to tell him, but he was clueless.  A system selling 91k units at an average price of $420 (with the 160gb model sales), would give revenue of 38.2M.  A system selling 190k units at an average $260 (with a majority of arcade model sales) would give revenue of 49.4M.  Even if every console was the Arcade model revenue = 38M, which obviously won't be the case.  So I guess Sony takes less revenue AND less units sold, thus the entire argument you had is gone.

Wow at the 360.

So what you expected for Xbox 360?
It frikkin costs 189€.
vs 479e.
=290€.
You can buy both PSP and Ds with it.
Or buy Xbox 360 and Wii.
Parents are going "o my son needs that console which should I buy"? Hmmm Ps3 479€ geez or hmm XBox 360 for 189€.
Hmmm.
Hmm.

Why do fanbots always compare the LOWEST priced 360 to PS3? Yeah, you're right, even though the majority of people I see are purchasing 60gig bundles or arcades WITH a seperate 120gb HDD. But yeah, you're right. /sarcasm

The best thing to come out of the low PS3 sales, is that no one will dare launch a console for over $400 next generation.
