Forums - Gaming - Sony - The Wii is great…but the EyeToy is better

My problem with the eyetoy was the same as my problem with the wiimote. It can be inaccurate during the worst times which destroys my immersion. The Playstation Eye's superior tech may help this much like M+ is supposed to help the wiimote. Once they get some software to show off what it can do I'm sure I'll be trying it just like i did last gen. I wish Sony wouldn't release products with little to no software and no advertising. It makes comments like this seem really stupid.

Well, Sony did demo'ed some stuff at GDC a while back using the PS Eye. It was tracking the player's face and the onscreen perspective adjusts itself to the player's eye.

The result was kinda like the Wiimote hack demo someone did (but that was weirder because he had to put the sensor bar on his forehead and the Wiimote pointing *at* him afaik).

It'll make FPS better. You can peak around using your actual head to get a better aim.

Not that face tracking is new tech. The PS2 was capable of doing that with Antigrav, anyway.

Proud member of the Sonic Support Squad.

I remember b4 the PS3 was launched there were videos about how awesome the new PS Eye Toy will be and innovating showing lots of interactions etc.. And all that inspiring ideas only lead to a card game? If it was Yu-Gi-Oh! then that'd be sumthing a bit better but not even. I just see the PS Eye toy as a wasted potential at this moment.

If you ignore the Dreameye...

If you don't though... it's just another thing Sega did first on the Dreamcast that the modern consoles ripped off.

Also, it's 2-D only still right?

When they get 3-D working then maybe you can talk... but it's applications are pretty limited due to the 2-D nature of the product.

No. Powerglove. On the NES. In the 80's. Before Dreamcast was made. or Any of Sony's motion control stuff.

In a way... I don't really see them saying that one is better than the other... looks more like he's just stating the differences in input.
