Forums - Gaming - I've never played any of the Final Fantasies...

I've never played any of the Final Fantasies, I've been reading on all the hype of the upcoming one. Should I try to play some of the earlier ones to try to get into them, "Which One" Thanx in Advance.

I never had, then tried FFX, XI(online), IX VII, and XII. I hated all of them but XII and IX. The new one looks, from the videos, to be very differen. And now that its coming to 360, I'm gonna try it out too.

I'd say why not.

GOTY Contestants this year: Dead Space 2, Dark Souls, Tales of Graces f. Everything else can suck it.

If you don't mind 2-D graphics I'd say go back and try 4 or 6. (these being reveared (sp?) as some of the best games in the series).

If graphics do bother you, I dunno, you could wait until 13 comes out I suppose, or try some of the 3-D ones.

The Mother 3 Fan Translation is done! Everyone go get it right now! (Mother3.fobby.net)

Play Earthbound for the SNES ; ; Do it, it's awesome!

Proud participater of this year's Wii Secret Santa event! Hopefully you'll join the merriment next year!

FF X, VI, VII, VIII, IV (DS) and to a lesser degree XII (great gameplay, lax story). are all worth your purchase.

What console or platform did 4 and 6 get released on?

Originally - SNES.

Rereleases- PS1 for both of them, FF VI on GBA, DS remake for FF IV.

This, plus you can get IV on GBA as well (original 16-bit graphics, etc).

it won't matter if you play any of the other ones because each numbered Final Fantasy revolves around a different universe with a different set of characters. Final Fantasy XIII is a new adventure so you won't be missing any story.

It believe its difficult for a lot of people to go back and play the older PS1 titles (due to now outdated graphics) but I would recommend FF7 (my favorite), then FF9, and FF8 in that order on PS1. All PS1 games are backwards compatible on every PS3.

For the PS2 versions I really enjoyed the turn based FF10. 10-2 wasn't so good story-wise but the active battle system was fun. You could stop enemies from attacking you with a quick attack while they were running at you. Finally FF11 was online only game with a subscription based model so I never played it. And FF12 is all in real time, you see every enemy wandering around. All the other games would just send you into a battle screen while running around. So in FF12 you can easily choose whether or not you want to engage in a battle. A lot of people like this one a lot, but for me the story wasn't as engaging as the previous ones.

I hope this helps. We still have a long wait for FF XIII & FFXIII Versus. I really hope FF13 makes it out before 2010.

But you shouldn't when you have a better DS version IMO.

What annoys me about the original FF IV are those people moving their legs while standing at one place. Plus, the 2D on the original is pretty bad (compared to much better FF V and fantastic FF VI)

Uh, well... it's probably my favorite game of all time, so I will disregard all your posts from now on!

And the remake is quite nice, but at least Cecil seemed like a man in the original!
