Forums - Sony - New WipEout HD patch makes your life much easier.

PS3FBNews: "WipEout HD is hard. If you've played the game, you probably know that and, if the newest patch is anything to go by, the developers at Studio Liverpool have also realized this. Updating the game to version 1.20, which will happen as soon as you start the game, will make getting medals in campaign mode a lot easier. You can now change the difficulty setting within campaign mode to novice, skilled or elite, just like in other modes. This changes the medal requirements, making completing the game a much simpler experience.

It also means the difficulty ramp for the game is far less steep, as you can blitz through on novice, then change up to skilled and then, eventually elite. The medals look different for each difficulty, so you can clearly see on which mode you've completed each task. This doesn't help with the most difficult trophies, but at least completing the game is actually possible for normal humans. So, if you haven't played WipEout HD for a while, give it another go. You might get sucked in all over again -- we certainly did."

My Personal Opinion: Thats great news since i plan on getting this before i even touch LBP or MGS4 (Yes im a PS3 owner and dont own both of these awesome excluisves yet please dont blaze me because of my blasphemy. :P) But anyways yeah, im a noob at racers in general though i was always pretty decent at hover-craft / future-ristic racers, anyone know how this game is in the overall?

blasphemy!!! Seriously tho, wipeout is a really fun racer. For $20 it's a steal and a definite buy. Good to hear they are patching so it appeals to more users.

From my personal experiences, lag is not really an issue, only every now and then is it obvious like when going over a pick up, 2 seconds later you get that pick up but the racing seems not affected.

It's done by region like most servers.

WipEout HD is an awesome game and for the money, it's a steal, more content then some full priced games.

Oh also, the game was not that hard, in my opinion. But a game being hard makes it better when you win.

Hmm, pie.

Awesome, i'll be sure this is my next PSN title then thanks dude.

What? Are they saying the game is too hard? I completed the campaign in a few hours- I thought they'd be making it harder XD.

I'm in the minority though I guess, what with having played since the PS1 days.

As an aside, anyone still on the fence need to buy this brilliant game now.

My Blog, Please Have A Read:

Well, the campaign time trials, speed trials and zone trials are pretty easy.

The hardest part of the game is beating the Elite AI on phantom for both campaign races and reverse racebox.

Other than that the most difficult trophies (by far) are the golds with beating Zico as the easiest.

I just hope they don't make the AI less challenging as that would degrade my (and any other players) platinum trophy, when it was insanely difficult.
