Forums - Gaming - 3 magic words "NO MORE RROD" will you get a 360?

I can play almost anything on the 360 either on the machine I'm currently typing on or my PS3. Why spend $299 + $200 worth of accessories on a 360 and only get a very small hand full of exclusives I currently don't have access to? The DVD based 360 will be out the door very soon, space constraints are going to hit hard very soon.
Besides the Humane Society, my local church and Diabetes Association is looking for money, if I really want to get rid of my cash I'd take it there.

PSN: EDguila

Yeah but are the newer models really 100% RROD proof? I was so pissed when my Elite with the Falcon motherboard spontaneously RROD'd last week, and everyone was saying last holiday season how the Falcons were much more reliable. Are there any cases of the new Jasper models failing?

Jesus people, no console is 100% guaranteed not to break.

I'm not going to lie to you and say the 360 doesn't break or breaks just as often as the other consoles, but it isn't that big of a deal.  If you console does break though, you really don't have much to worry about since it does have a 3 year warranty.

Nope.   DVD isn't going anywhere and the so-called "space constraints" are a non-issue.  Yes Blu-Ray has several times the capacity of standard DVDs, but that's only because the high-def audio and video is a huge data-hog, not to mention the fact that the data is read at a much slower rate, which is why alot of PS3 games require MANDATORY installations just to play them in the first place!

360 programmers don't have to worry about any of that stuff, and most 360 games don't even come close to maxing out the capacity of the standard DVDs.  Once they do, making them on 2-discs should be a non-issue as well.

There is a HUGE difference between "a console breaking down" and "a console breaking from a known manufacture defects".

Frankly, I pray everyday that my Arcade doesn't break, so I don't have to wait for weeks before getting a refurbished one.

I'm not saying that... a simple disc-read error here or a faulty disc drive or lense there is perfectly acceptible.

Butt still having complete hardware failures as such high rates while the system is on the 4th version of the main board now is not acceptible at all.  And the 3 year warranty to me is nice to have but its like the Lemon Law... its good that we have it but after awhile if things don't actually get better then people are just going to stop buying Lemons altogether.

Still no. No Wifi (not 100% sure, fill me in if yes) so I can't play online due to the position of the router in my home, no exclusive games that interest me enough to tip me over, I'd have to pay for a gold membership and $50 a year ( I loathe re-occurring fees on my bank statement) even if I had a good router location. If I managed to even get past all of that there would be the problem of annoying online kids screaming in my ear from what I've heard. I personally enjoy conversing with people I don't know so I can get better with speaking to people (which I do have trouble with).

The only move by M$ that would even come close to convincing me to get a 360 is if FFXIII AND Versus XIII went exclusive to the 360. Even then it's a small chance because I'm mainly a two console per generation kind of guy.

This will only take a moment of your time. *steals your watch*

I was tempted to get the Arcade this holiday season, but I decided not to and probably won't ever pick it up. Me and my friend are talking about the 360 all the time, and he's always telling me that Arcade is terrible, and if I get a 360 it has to be a Pro. So that's stopping me too after RROD.

Currently playing: Marvel vs. Capcom 3, League of Legends

Just out of curiosity, from the PS3 crowd, what are you going to do if your PS3 breaks down 1 year and 1 day after you bought it? Same thing the 360 people are going to do 3 years and 1 day after they bought it -- send it in and pay $150 to repair it.

Bottom line is the 360 is priced cheap enough now that you don't need to worry. The 360 RROD issue has been significantly reduced. The price is incredibly cheap. It comes with a 3 year warranty. Lots of great games. 'nuff bitchen, ok?

I hate trolls.

Systems I currently own:  360, PS3, Wii, DS Lite (2)
Systems I've owned: PS2, PS1, Dreamcast, Saturn, 3DO, Genesis, Gamecube, N64, SNES, NES, GBA, GB, C64, Amiga, Atari 2600 and 5200, Sega Game Gear, Vectrex, Intellivision, Pong.  Yes, Pong.

You do know people (or sane people at least) never buy lemons on purpose right?

And like I said, every console, *every*, console can break.  No console is 100% break proof, even the PS3 and Wii.  I'm not talking about faulty disc drives or a broken lense, I'm talking about consoles actually breaking.  Electronics break.  That just happens.

Yes, again, the 360 breaks more than the others but 1) it has been significantly reduced, and 2) you still have the three year warranty.  For something $200+ you would probably be paying $50+ for that warranty so it is a good thing.

And as for videos all over Google and YouTube, get a life.  As I said, electronics break and of course there are going to be people pissed off their console breaks and there are going to be fanboys that already don't love the 360 that have their 360's break.  They are the ones that go on the internet and declare an epidemic.

Believe me, the vast majority of people that tell you the RRoD problem is still some epidemic and most of those people that post videos are fanboys.  They get their kicks off of trying to make something they don't like look bad.  I have no idea why but they are irrational people and just shouldn't be listened to.
