Forums - Nintendo - Zelda's triforce symbol lifted from Wrath of Khan?

So...the trailer for the new JJ Abrams Star Trek reboot has gotten me excited for all things Trek.  I went back and started watching the older movies again.  In what is probably the best seen in all of Trek (Spock's death scene) a triforce symbol is clearly visible.  Check out the clip at the link I've provided.  To Spock's right at approx 3:45 into the clip.  This movie is from 1982.  Well before the NES or Zelda.  This begs the question...is Miyamoto a Trek fan or is this a big cosmic coincidence?

I'm going to go with coincidence. Triangles within triangles isn't something that star trek came up with.

You can find me on facebook as Markus Van Rijn, if you friend me just mention you're from VGchartz and who you are here.

Exactly, the TriForce shape isn't exactly a new concept.

The Triforce is a traditional Japanese symbol.  The symbol is used in Matsue Castle, which was constructed back in 1611, for example.

I'm sure you're right.  I still found it funny, interesting and surprising.

Prior to Wrath of Khan, triangles did not exist. So yes, The Legend of Zelda is linked to Star Trek.

You're right. That's pretty cool. Nintendo made Pikmin by gardening, maybe he invented The legend of Zelda while playing in the castle (remembering he played there, I know he didn't make video-games at the age of 8)

That is VGChartz LONGEST review. And it's NOT Cute Kitten DS

Triangle inside a triangle is also a symbol for the number 9, which is supposed to represent the closest humanity can get to perfection (the number 10, or 100%). I think that view is a Norse mythology thing, but I could be wrong. My Triforce-ology's a little rusty. But yeah, Kenology's right. It's on Japanese castles from hundreds of years ago.

Besides, Star Trek is in the future, and A Link to the Past is the in the past. Zelda did it first.
