Forums - Nintendo - do retailers dislike nintendo?

Everyone hates Nintendo until your gf does squats on Wiifit, gets horny and then even you will love Nintendo too

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

ok i admit it was a stupid thread title. i just kinda did it becos of that third partys hate wii thread. but my main point still stands that i think wii multiplats would sell much better if they were pushed as hard as the HD parts. This has happened with shaun white and guitar hero. i still dont think the wii version could have got numbers anynear the HD version but they might not have been as appaling

Guitar Hero sells the most on the Wii than in other systems. And if you think about Guitar Hero WT, the sales acording to NPD data are around 750,000 on all systems combined. About Shaun White, we dont even know yet most of Wii games sales on legs not in its first month or first week of sales.

Speaking of multiplats, I think the Wii version of Sonic Unleashed will be the best selling version, not in blockbuster but with legs. I think its because of Sonic and the Secret Rings the hype alone will make the Wii version a hit...

end of core gaming days prediction:

E3 2006-The beginning of the end. Wii introduced

E3 2008- Armageddon. Wii motion plus introduced. Wii Music. Reggie says Animal crossing was a core game. Massive disappointment. many Wii core gamers selling their Wii.

E3 2010- Tape runs out

I think Nintendo made the industry players look a bit foolish.

No one likes egg on their face so probably initially there was a little resentment at the Wii's sucess.

Also failure to keep retail outlets fully stocked two Xmas's in a row caused frustration.

However now bank balances are under pressure the Wii is the true champ of the consumers and retailers and everyone loves a winner.

lol everyone hatin on Ninty this gen.

oh yea sure, retailers hate it when ppl flock to their shops to buy things

QoS and COD:WaW

Activision is to blame for this. I went to 7 retailers that sell games, and the only place I found ONE copy of COD:WaW was some random music store that sold some games too.

I asked at EB, JB HI-FI and they said they only got like 2-3 copies when the games launched and they sold.

I predict next year news headline "Activision thinks Wii is not a great platform for bond and war shooter games".

I guess all you can do is complain to Activision asking WTF happened.

I can't remember how many countless times I have walked into a retailer and heard a conversation as follows:

PARENT: I would like to buy a console for my family and I don't know what too buy.
RETAILER: Is anyone a heavy gamer in your family?
PARENT: Yes, my kid is but, I want everyone to enjoy it.
RETAILER: Buy a Wii.

No criteria except that if it is for everyone buy a Wii... No talk about HD TV, no talk about playing music, no talk that PS3 and 360 have games like Rockband and Guitar Hero. Just if it is for everyone buy a Wii.

Meanwhile the only time the conversation goes 360 or PS3 is when the parent says "My kid is a gamer and we are buying it for him only".

Retailers favor the Wii they don't shun it. It is "if in doubt buy a Wii".

I thought they recommended the Wii in this case because the heavy gamer could benefit from playing Wii Fit.
