Forums - Nintendo - Metroid Retrospective

Whoa. Can't say I ever realised how revolutionary Metroid has been through the years. I played the original a bit on my NES waaay back, but never got too far in it. Maybe I'll be motivated enough to beat one of them now.

But... "Ganpei Youkoi"?? What is it with you Yanks and consistently failing in the pronounciation of non-English names? =P

I just don't understand why this series doesn't sell well in Japan. It's just such a mindboggingly, inconveivably great series that I'm frequently tempted to found a religion based on it and yet it goes more or less ignored in its country of origin.

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

Yeah I was already going to buy both Metroids as part of my campaign of getting all the GC games I never got to own last gen, started with Mario Sunshine and Smash Bros., I'll probably get the Primes next.

What I really want on the VC are these 3 games:

1. Alex Kidd in Miracle World (Sega Master System)
2. Shinobi III: Return of the Ninja Master (Genesis/Mega Drive) this has already gotten an ESRB rating so it's coming in the next month probably.
3. World Heroes 1 and/or 2 (NeoGeo)

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

On the subject of hard games, yes metoid was hard. Ninja Gaiden 1, 2, and 3 were all hard, but I remember beating all of them, and without any kind of guide. Battletoad, however, that game was ridiculously unfair. Never could beat it, although I came close.

Battletoad X_X that game killed my gameboy X_X.

It took me one year and a lot of stress to play this game out.

I thought the producers are not from Japan but I have the same feeling like you but with Okami.

Hey did you noticed a lot of popular gamesfranchises started in 1987?

Metroid

Final Fantasy

 Metal Gear Solid.

That is because it is towards the start of when the gaming industry was revitalised

Now, where is my retrospective for this week? :(

Yes I know, but how many of them had a exact release date 20 years after the beginning of the franchise ?

We have to celebrate this !!!!
