Great video. As someone who hasn't played the NES metroid, was I the only one thinking "that game just looks too hard for today's audience" or should I say "too hardcore"?

It was a tough one.  The scary part was that it's not even close to one of the tougher NES games out there.  I know that's why my NES still gets a lot of play.

Of course it has it's share of easy games too... I mean i'd be embarresed if I died even once playing "Chip and Dales Rescue Rangers".  I picked that game up after 2 years of not playing it and beat it without dying.

Stof you are correct, a game like this would garner thousands of complaints from todays supposed "hardcore" gamers for it's difficulty. Kids these days don't know what difficult games are. The NES and SNES still have some of the most difficult games of all time.

'Cours, we need to remember that not all that difficuty is created equally. I don't care what anybody says, the original Ninja Gaiden just isn't f***ing fair.

I'll give you that the original Ninja Gaiden may have been a little too much.

By the way, on topic, Gametrailers did a GREAT job on this. I can't wait for part 2.

Well I think they like Metroid a lot over there...at least at Screw Attack hehe. I wonder why their name is Screw Attack, and their theme is Metroid music hehe.

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

I enjoyed the Zelda Retrospective, and am watching the Final Fantasy retrospective as it unfolds. Hope they finish this one soon.

Also, aren't MP1-3 BEFORE the original game, as far as timeline?

Something like that, although it looks like they're going throught the games in the order in which they were realeased.  Which is good, becasue that will progress through the technology of the consoles, and the inovations made in items and gameplay.

-Manella: Yeah... sux0rz! I hate missing out on food...
-Maya: Nick... what does "Sucksores" mean?
-Phoenix: No idea...

Yeah, they are going through the games in chronological order, rather than the plot of the series.  I think it's interesting.

Well Metroid on the NES wouldn't have been so frickin difficult if it didn't restart you with 30 energy after you died.

PART 2!!
