Forums - Gaming - Playstation games on PSP and NDS ...

I have just finished Wild Arms 1 on my PSP and have to say that it was much more satisfying than both Dragon quest 4 OR Final Fantasy III on my NDS for which I paid $40 each. I have also tried some PS1 games via remote play and for the most part they seem to be great. I just wish Sony would make more games avaiable for download on PSN store so that I may play them.

I have also converted some of my games to PSP format and it seems that majority of these games not only have retained their charm but are amazing for the PSP. A case in point would be The legend of Dragoon which looks amazing on the PSP. If you have had a chance to play this game on a new widescreen TV you will understand why I am surprised.

I have also found that most 2D games of yesteryears look better than newer games. Suikoden 2 in particular looks and plays  much better than YS or Legend of Heroes which are PSP games.

What games have you palyed on PSP from the PS1 era? Do you have the same thoughts as I do that some of these remakes (on the NDS especially) are just way too expensive? Since, the PSP can play PS1 games Sony would be much better served putting them on PSN than the developer trying to recreate the games for NDS.

I agree with you. Currently playing Vagrant Story and Xenogears.

I found remote play good for anything that didn't require real time, i relayed FF7 with it, and other then the mini games the PSP was great and the small screen size makes them look great.

I have Lunar, Arc the Lad, and Persona 2 all waiting to be played by me.....

And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."

What's sad is Japan store got RE1-3, MGS, Xenogears, etc...SCEA is really dropping the ball, there are 25 games on the US store and only bout 5 worthy purchases. Funny thing is this would be easy money for them and the 3rd parties.

FFVIII is a great portable rpg. I used to get in a few games of triple triad during my breaks at work. The characters look more realistic when squished to fit the screen. In a lot of the earlier parts of the game the art direction made it really easy to view on the psp screen even outside.

Tomba 1 & 2 and Umihara Kawase, Klonoa are also examples of great art direction that is viewable outside on the psp and great platformers to boot. , Mega Man X4 & 5, Castlevania SotN, Crash 3 are great as well but not quite as vsible.

Ray Storm and Einhander are good if you like shmups

Mr. Driller and I.Q. are great portable puzzle games

Soul Blade is better than any psp fighting game, Bushido blade rules as well

Crash Team Racing is a more than acceptable Mario Kart clone. I and even gamespot like it a bit better.

Being a Playstation in my pocket makes the PSP the best portable console ever.

Ahh.. The good old days.. I remember the first time I played an FF game on my PSP. FF8 and FF9 were just too damn nostalgic!

I tried FF8 with remote play but for me the fact the I have to have both of them running was a turn off. I haven't tried playing it via conversion yet since it is a multi-disc game. I have to admit it looked "much" better on the tiny screen than my TV.

This thread makes me sorry for buying a DS over a PSP.

Screw you guys =P
