Looks like a bunch of crap slapped together by someone who has no respect for the source material.

It looked okay. Not great. Did anyone get the feeling that it didn't feel like Star Trek cause I did. Also Sylar is now Spock. Epic.

I'm actually glad it doesn't really feel like the old star trek or "has no respect for the source material"... cause face it.. star trek has been dead for many years now...

Dead, yes.

But that wouldn't in itself be a valid reason to change it. A valid reason would be if it were stagnating. Trek was doing no such thing, though. When it was active, it was epic. There was no stagnation - only lack of interest, so it died peacefully.

In a lack-of-interest situation, the key isn't to disrespect the predecessors - the key is to build upon them. Take what they do and do it better.

I'm still not sure how I feel about this film, though. It's the first Trek film to not star actors from a preexisting TV show.

I've never really been a Star Trek fan but this movie looks really good.
