Forums - Gaming - Most powerfull next gen console?

In regards to cost, I'm pretty sure he's referring to the cost of BRD recordable media, which is prohibitively expensive for the purpose of making 1:1 copies of BR movies or games (probably by design).

The cost to press a BRD is actually a lot less than everyone thinks. When pressed on comparable scales, the price is almost the same.

Edit - FWIW, I think it's debatable which console is more powerful.

Microsoft and Sony will be comparable for the top spot and Nintendo will be behind but not nearly as much as this generation. However the Super Wii will be the top seller as long as Nintendo doesn't mess up this generation somehow.

i don't think m$ will go for the controller, more like power.

they are software company their experience in hardware it not so good.

come on they fixed their dpad 2 + years after released, well thats software company phylosophy, release, patch later.

Didnt sony get dualshock 3 controllers in the 2nd year of the ps3? So release ,patch later is sonys philosophy to?

N64 is the ONLY console of the fifth generation!!!

The big hurdle for Nintendo for the "Super Wii" or Wii HD (or whatever) will be convincing all the light gamers that they need to buy another Nintendo console, even if it's very reasonably priced at $250 again.

By then, the Wii should be selling for $150 or even $99.

Unless Nintendo wants to pull a Microsoft and kill the platform (which the generation leader never does), Nintendo's main competition next generation will probably be itself.

The most powerful console will be the one that doesn't come in first place, if history is to be trusted.

PS3, Xbox, N64, Neo Geo, Sega Master System.........

Could it be argued that N64 was not more powerful than PSOne?

I concur.. with that 4k memory buffer the N64 became such a let down.

"Yep stopped reading here to. There is no proof of this. Dont speal off Cell figures either. It's the entire system as a whole that eminates the final production. And if you believe the statement you made, then why is the 360 having no trouble keeping with it, and currently (of games that are available to buy) have the most impressive technical and visual game?"

Because it doesn't have the most impressive technical and visual game. Metal Gear Solid 4 is still just as high. One thing about the 360 though that limits it off the bat is disc space. You see they can choose to have a visually impressive game, but by making it too visually impressive, they limit other features such as story or gameplay elements to the simplistic side of things. Gears I is a good example. It is take cover, peak out, shoot, take cover, peek out, throw a grenade, etc, and it doesn't give you a 20+ hour game with rich cinemas. On the other hand in Uncharted you have these game mechanics, many more, and a very rich, long story making it the better all around game instead of the diva darling of the pundits.

Dont want to argue about it, but I and most reviewers disagree. Gears 2 is the most technically impressive game currently available to buy. And disc size is not an advantage. Multi discs is no problem. Wasnt in previous gens and isnt now. Seriously when I have seen my PS3 friends face gobsmacked with Gears 2, comments like yours on a forum make me laugh. This whole thread is pointless.

Gameplay is far more important.

I personally think that there won't be any powerful consoles in next gen. MS and SONY try to make the same thing as Nintendo has made. So they will try to sell consoles for profit and of course they try not to make too powerful/costly console.

If anyone learns anything from this generation, all three companies will most likely focus on achieving profitability from day 1.

It does mean that hardware will be less spectacular, but seeing as how initially, the best use of the best hardware seems to be for the purpose of marketing, rather than the games themselves, this isn't necessarily a bad thing.

LMAO...

so ur saying ud rather play a game  just coz its heavy on 1080p FMV as opposed to one that had to say probably rely on cut scnes? DVD9 is fine.. if it works for PC's.. it can work for consoles... MGS4 is beautiful but your argument is pointless.. good FMV does not a good game make.. not unless you want "tomcatalley" all over again.
