It affects me positively in the future as it forces the push for originality.

I completely agree.

Its not just tribute levels that are being modded its any level with any reference to something that are being modded as well.

Do you mean drug or sex references or something else?

Not levels with offensive references. Levels with a miniscule reference to anything copyrighted ( a ps3 picture) would be moderated

N64 is the ONLY console of the fifth generation!!!

It has put me off creating some things. A lot of ideas I had if I ever published would get deleted.

What annoys me is the people who try and defend it saying "Be original and use your imagination instead of ripping off other things" or some crap.

If I recreate MGS1 in 2D, I fail to see how imagination and creativity isn't being used.

What also annoys me is they didn't mention any deletion of copyrighted stuff during the beta, and have multiple times shown copyright themed levels before release, and the official website still shows copyrighted levels now right next to a message telling you to make whatever you want.

They also awarded the win for a competition to a copyright themed level.

They are just completely two-faced, it really has killed any joy I had for the game.

The J man read that azure world was moderated and thats why the J man made this thread. LBP is an amazing game and although the J mans level need work (alot of it) it was still enjoyable and addictive to build and create things with your imagination as the limit. But the J man feels that MM put this mod crap after the positive reviews were set. Azure world ,although the J man never played it, was thought to be one of the most original and fun levels on lbp but was taken down for no apparent reason.

The level was called Azure Palace and yes it was pretty awesome.  There's a pretty big discussion about it on Gamefaqs and Kotaku has picked it up too.  There is nothing apparent that infringes copyright although 1 poster suggested that there's a portion of the game .hack that includes the word Azure.  Not sure if that has anything to do with it.  Others have also suggested that it may be the spatters of blood here and there that have caused it to be modded.  However, at least 1 of the story levels has blood spatter as well.  Hell, there's even meerkats grinding on stripper poles in the 1 story level.  Exactly why Azure Palace was modded remains a mystery.  The author has contacted the appropriate people and is awaiting a response.

Keep this in mind when reading what I type...

I've been gaming longer than many of you have been alive.

It is possible someone did the sticker trick.

It is possible to place a EULA breaking sticker on someones level somewhere, and take a snapshot with the report tool.

I doubt the tens of thousands of reports all get played and comfirmed, so they probably just delete a lot of levels based on what the snapshot shows.

I'm sure if we know about the "sticker trick", then MM and Sony do as well.

Before I publish my level, I'm gonna create a couple of backup copies on my Moon, just in case.

But I've already taken steps to avoid it getting moderated. Origionally it had the world 'kill' in it (and the player was refered to as 'Killer' at one point), which I got rid of.

Well, yes, it's put me off from ever buying the game. (although it wasn't exactly high on my priority list anyways)

It will never get deleted from your moon unless YOU delete it.  Moderation just deletes it from the servers.  The author of Azure Palace has said that he still has the level on his moon.  You could actually just reupload it again.  Some people have said that there's one particularly tasteless level regarding child molestation that keeps getting reuploaded.

The moral of the story is that you are free to be as sick and twisted as you want locally (i.e. at home and with your friends on your own console).  It's only when you upload to the community that you are subject to moderation.

Nope.

Haven't yet acquired this game. Mirrors edge, Resistance 2 are getting in the way.

Judging by the beta, moderation wont be a problem for me ^-^

mM

only using logos or names are affected

if you did a god of war level but it got deleted only changing name and the logo will do.
EDIT: i am yet to see a level taken down.
