Forums - General - Do you believe in god, if not do you believe in something else?

Personally I don't really believe in the god they talk about in the bible, it's too human made, but i do believe something else must be the reason why everything is so perfect, every little thing on earth and in the universe has a purpose, an utility. So it made me wonder what is beyond all this? sometimes i just say to my self: this is crazy talk, things are the way they are for no good reason it's just like that. And since gamers are the smartest being on earth and have a lot of time to waist maybe you guys and girls (not likely) could help me clear this.

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

Just out of curiosity..How did you reach that conclusion?

Edit:

No and No.

How did you reach that conclusion?

If a sole person uttered the sentence "everything is imperfect", then you'd be heading down the slippery slope..

Edit:

No and No.

Logical opposite of everything is so perfect is that there exists one thing which isn't. That said, I can list you pages and pages of things that aren't even close to perfect.

Edit: On topic:

The way I see things, Jesus, Moses, Mohammed, etc. were probbaly one of the best liars in the world, also the greatest leaders. I don't think there is a god the way anyone else thinks there is. There is no heave, no hell, none of that psiritual crap. However, maybe something started the universe, maybe it was a whole race of things, maybe they are in some other dimension/time/whatever, maybe it wass on accident or maybe it was on purrpose. One thing still remains though is that after they created the univers, if something actually did, they stopped giving a shit about, or have no control over it so praying to them or hoping they could do something to change things is absolutely retarded and a waste of breath, time, or life.

I call this my homebrewed religion.

Not in the god from the bible or any other deity from other books. Neither in a supranatural being that thought up everyting and created it.

I'm fine with evolution, and per se it's the exact opposite of "for no good reason". I don't think we know everything the way it happened, but I'm comfortable with science taking leads and trying to figure things out.

Nope. I believe people find purpose where there is none, and find utility for things that have none, personify things that are completely indifferent, and give meaning to things that simply are without a why.

I believe things are what you make of them, and the purpose of life is what you give it. Things do not have meaning except that which you assign them, and you are only what you make of yourself.

I believe nature is too indifferent at best and too cruel at worst, the planet too inhospitable, the universe too random for their to be any god like religious texts describe. Our own existence is statistical inevitability, not providence.

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

Just to try to even things out a little bit, yes. :D

I´m catholic.

treading on dangerous ground, my friend.

I mean, do you think entire cities lied about his miracles? And even if you tried to argue about the entire (or the important parts anyway) bible being fiction, I would have to argue about the hell christians went through, so no reason for them to lie about a savior unless it was actually real.

I'm sorry, I just have very strong feelings about this matter when someone calls my savior a "liar", even though it is becoming even more commonplace in the world.

OT: christian! w00t!
