Oh wait, just noticed you said Gamefly. Yeah, trusting them for information before a release is like trusting Amazon's release date for Duke Nukem Forever.

If you look at the description on Gamefly you'll notice that it's likely been there since the E3 06 trailer. Nothing is confirmed; some intern likely just likely was told to place some filler in there.

-edit-
And I'm not saying it's not going to have online, just Gamefly's filler text is far from confirmed.

 Right...

A friend of a friend knows somebody who knows someone's uncles brothers roommate type of thing?  I completely agree that the delays hint towards online (I've been saying that for a very long time) but I'll wait until I here from the Dojo rather than from Gamefly or some unknown source.

I think Reggie would have said something at E3, IMO.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

Nintendo likes to keep secrets; it's what they do.  The Smash Dojo is taking care of all the SSBB announcements so I'm not surprised that they didn't mention it at E3.  I'm guessing that online will be revealed early to mid November to really spur peoples interest during the holiday season.  Telling us now would be great, but that awesome news would be completely settled by December.  By telling us in November we'll still be riding the high from the online announcement which will make more people want to buy.

Reggie was asked about Brawl in a GameTrailers interview...he definitely hinted that a certain game coming out soon would be online...and it's obviously not Kart, since that was at E3. It could have been Strikers...but that'd be stupid, I'm pretty sure that online Strikers is assumed.

Nintendo keeps secrets...but also, online in Brawl probably got started later on, and it's surely still getting worked on now. They probably know now that it's good to go, and it will be announced by October I'd guess.

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )
