Forums - Gaming - Why I think PSN is better than Live.

"An ex-live user isn't going to log onto PSN then curl up in a ball and cry due to the degrade in quality."

I love when people say that when its not true. PSN has problems with voice chat in many games (and most of the time it's like no one is even talking), friend invites, etc. Problems that have been around since PSN launched, and instead of fixing them they work on other stuff.

So you're not going to list features and instead do it based on a list of games? Don't you really think this belongs under something like "Why I think the PS3's lineup is better than 360's" because you've offered up absolutely nothing other than "cost" as your reason for liking one service over the other.

Where is the list of features, etc, and your comparisons of them? Why even make a thread like this when NXE is about to launch and is to change Xbox Live significantly?

The title is "why I think". If you want me to get into details sure. I think that the most important role of these online services is to provide an enviornment for gamer to play with each other online. You may think that other services and specifications are improtant, but that is the very purpose of this thread. Instead of questioning my reasoning, give me yours.

My oppiniong? I am not so much interested with the features as I am the games that they are providing. That is the most improtant think to me. I think that PSN is doing very nicely considering PS3 launched a year later than 360. The list of exlusives I put up shows how far it has progressed in terms of games in two years. Those are some quality online games, possibly with the exception of SOCOM (we will see when they patch it)

I think Xbox Live is much better, and with the NXE update it will be even better. Home would be an improvement, whenever the hell it comes out, and judging by the delays, it aint coming out anytime soon.

I believe its January 2009, that's what Sony have confirmed.

@ agamemnon

Home is ready to come out I think, the beta is pretty stable with tons of people in a room......

I think the ability to download full-size games on the PS3 (like Siren, Warhawk, Socom, Burnout, GT5: Prologue, etc) is a big advantage.

Both XBLA and the PSN have great downloadable titles, but the quality on the PSN is somewhat higher. XBLA wins in quantity.

The cost is a big advantage for the PS3.

PSN is generally more reliable in multiplayer games and has more dedicated servers rather than player-hosted games.

XBL wins in terms of the coverage of some of the features, such as looking at the specifics of what other players are doing, but the PSN has made major strides recently that have made the gap negligible when it used to be sizeable.

XBL has a better video library, but the gap is closing.

XBLA does have fully downloadable Xbox titles, which is hella cool. PSN does have PS1 titles, but until PS2 titles are available XBLA will have the advantage here.

The PS store's interface is slightly better, IMO, but this is preference more than anything.

The point system is kind of unnecessary on XBLA, IMO. I like how the PSN just uses dollars.

We'll see how much of a difference Home makes.

Bolded is debateable.  I personally enjoyed Braid a good deal more than many of my full retail games, and others like Castle Crashers and Geo Wars 2 never get old.

PSN is better simply because it is free.

Money grabbing microsoft always looking for ways to screw over the consumer.

This thread should be called... "I like to download games that are exactly like store bought games".

The funny thing is PSN gives you the option to download these games aswell as your small games like calling all cars, the Last guy etc. Microsoft claim Digital is the future, but i don't see them putting out your Burnout Paradise's, Your Tekken's, your SOCOM, like full next gen Games, to download from Live. M$ Should put their Money where their Mouth is. Until that time, they should STFU.

Horde-mode of Gears of War2 > PSN. It's that simple.

you should decide if you talk about quality or price. Something is NOT better than something else because it is free.Let's say you win a Ford and it is free to you. I drive a Ferrari. Is Ford the better car now? You can judge price and you can judge quality. But you can't mix them. If you do it like this, the Xbox360 is the better console, because it is cheaper. Is that what you want to say?

@topic

Halo3 and Gears of War2 online is so freaking sweet. Plus more DLC on Live than on PSN (GTA IV, Fallout3 exlcusives, more movies, netflix-deal, NXE, Arcade, originals etc.) Plus EVERYBODY got a headset. plus Windows Live Messenger plus Gamerscore for every game from the start. 14 million Xbox Live members is huge.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

I prefer the PSN store. [now, b4 it sucked]

It's free

I have in-game messaging.

Hmm... sounds perfect to me :)
