Oh, man you wanna talk snow? I just spent two hours shovelling half my two-car driveway, only for Snow Plow Man to spoil my day and shove it all back

Oh, question about trees!

Are there any rules about tree-planting besides having them two spaces away from each other, water, or cement (like the stuff in front of Nook's)? I ask because I just planted around sixty fruit trees which stuck to those rules, and around 15 of them died the next day.

They seemed to be in random places, too, like in the middle of a large chunk that grew properly. Any tips would be much appreciated...

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

Did you know that one of my top wishes in life is to be in an area full of snow? Lucky you.

Anyway I am pretty sure you don't have to water the trees at all as far as I know, not sure how these 15 trees died though... maybe the village is over-crowded ;o

Trees die if they are too close to water, other trees, the sign post (since new villagers move in on that area where sign post is, and a few other things. The best way to have a tree grow is to cut a regular one down and plant an exotic in it's place. If a tree grew there before then it will always grow in that space. Watering trees has no effect and will not increase the survival rate. I just chopped down like 20-40 regular trees and replanted exotics and all of them grew.

The basic rules of trees are thus:

1. They must be at least 2 squares away from other trees (ie. 1 square of blank land between the two trees minimum).
2. They must be at least 2 squares away from signs, rocks, and houses (ie. 1 square of blank land between the tree and object minimum).
3. They must be at least 3 squares away from any body of water, town border wall, cliff edge, or bridge (ie. 2 squares of blank land between the tree and the barrier minimum).
4. You can fit no more than 8 trees per 8x8 square of land.
5. You can fit no more than 24 trees per 16x16 square of land.
6. Flowers and holes have no impact on tree growth.
7. Any tree that has successfully grown can be chopped down and replanted and will regrow.
8. Pine trees can only grow in the top two "acres" of town (ie. top 32 vertical squares, but all horizontal squares along that axis), and palm trees can only grow on the bottom "acre" of town (ie. the bottom 16 vertical squares, but all horizontal squares along that axis).
9. You can have no more than 400 total trees in your town.

I desided to get pics and make my posts more interesting!

SO! I chose my house near the river, I though it will have a nice view to it.

Of course Tom Nook wanted me to work at his store, he won't even take a no as an answer!
One of the tasks was deliviring a rug to Freya, as cool as she looks she is sure a showoff!

Getting garbage sure is a nice way to show your thanks >.>

During some deliveries I chatted with my neighbors alittle bit and found some of them to be really charming

Man! talk about serious! I hope you won't move away, I really like you ;_;

Yes, all the residents does, dear.

So after some work Nook finally set me free!

I know I won't be happy for long.

So for selebration I though I would make a snowman! it will never snow where I live so doing this even virtually is really cute, I would make one near my house, nice stuff.

I think I did it the wrong way >_< Mr. Snowman didn't like it, well I never made a snowman in my life so i have an excuse... I really though I would get a present from him for building him!

That's almost the start of a Let's Play there, you realize... Also, it's cool how your town's snow has star patterns to it; the snow in my town (what's left of it) just has indistinct boulder-like shapes. My own town's pretty well fully built now, though: two houses paid off, almost the max number of trees planted (and all but 1 is a fruit tree), way too much money in the bank...  Yet it's still fun to play it every day in spite of that.

And since we're showing off our towns, here's a shot from a few days ago...

Thanks, Sky--I thought the general rule was just 1 blank square between anything lol.

I'll post pics of my town later.

You got a nice story going there, silver. I hope you keep having fun with the game. I know I am, even after a month of playing every day! Woohoo, great game.

Anway, I just wanted to say that I finally amassed enough Nook Points to legitimately buy a Majora's mask. It took a while, but I did it! Up next--everything else...Darn it. Oh, an easy way to get points is by waiting Nook to give x5 points for all items and then buy his unlimited number of letters XD. It might be a little boring, but that's what I did to get my mask.

You could do that, or you could just buy or trade them. I prefer doing it all myself. Delayed gratification is great.
