Forums - Gaming - Now that I have played both Gears 2 and Resistance 2...

As soon as I read the OP I knew what the responses would be. The internet is so predictable. If you complain that you die to much in a game, it can't be because the game is poorly designed. You just suck. Nothing is ever a hyped games fault, if it's hyped, it's your fault for not liking it.

The fact of the matter is the campaign is centered around trial and error gameplay. Nathan dies incredibly fast, and there are tons of "gotcha" moments when a group of enemies busts through a wall, or invisible guys swarm you and insta kill, or guys charge in behind you, ect ect. There is virtually no punishment for dying other than starting 10 seconds back, and it will change your weapons when you die to something more appropriate. They designed it like that purposely, and it's really not a good design.

You can find me on facebook as Markus Van Rijn, if you friend me just mention you're from VGchartz and who you are here.

dude you can take them out with just 2 or three shots, its really not that hard.

I cant believe you are stuck in one of the easiest parts of the game..

I didn't get "stuck". The mob that killed me last was the first time he killed me. I was farther into the game at that point then before.

I can finish the game if I wanted to. It's just with the trial and error game play, I have no desire to.

Thank you. This is exactly what I was trying to say.

Dude I tried to help you, that is so easy, seriously you actually must suck at the game..

Thanks for trying. Your help was that they always run at you from the front. They don't, so sadly, that was not much help at all :p

Apparently, whatever talent you need to be good at this element, I don't have.

reflexes.

Am I the only one here who actually likes going melee on this guys?
I usually run in and melee them for laughs.

Out of curiousity, how big is your TV and how loud do you play?
Cause they're pretty easy to spot on my 40" set.
Owl noise. red flag
Wavy light disturbance. Run in and melee. or shoot.

I have a 50" 1080p TV, and a good sound system. I didn't have it turned up very high though.

The reflexes comment is probably closer to the issue though. I am 40, and while I have gamed longer then most of you have been alive, youth is better then skill at this sort of thing.

If it helps, studies show that that's not true - if you train yourself, you'll be just as good as a man half your age, or a kid a quarter your age.

Whether or not it's worth the time investment is another issue altogether.

@TheRealMafoo, I had some huge expectations for Resistance 2 but after sse the sales, I lost some of that hype for it. I am really pumped up for Killzone 2. Killzone 2 looks more like a better game than resistance 2. After hearing your review on this game, I have to say that Gears of War 2 is better.

Thats pretty much my take on it as well.  Luckily I never bought R2 and just rented it or I would be more upset.  Gears 2 is much better on the campaign in my opinion.  I do like the R2 multiplayer though about the same or maybe a little more than Gears 2's.
