''Xbox games were in HD not the 480p games but the 720p and 1080i games, It was the first HD system."

PS2 too had HD game but neither of the two had full hd and very few hd games.

Also Sony was laying the foundation for bluray this gen.I am not saying that they had this all planned but if you look at the previous media formats, then you will know.

CD - released in 1982.By the time PS1 integrated them in 1994,they were is mass productions d very cheap to produce already.

DVD - released in 1995,by the time PS2 launched, they were 5years old and comparability cheaper

Blu ray - released in 2006,it was launched with the PS3 and had no previous establishment. It had no foundation. They were and are very expensive to produce to date.

Overall in PS1 and PS2's case they had integrated formats which were already in mass production. In PS3's case there was nothing.PS3 actually gave birth and laid bu ray's foundation

The PS2 happens to be in them both.

there is NO PS2 this gen

the days of playstation's having 80% or so of the market are gone

& with it the days of ANY console having majority of the market in its hands are gone too

As i've always been saying. This is a mirror of last gens war, just in reverse. The PS3 is the Xbox and the 360 is the PS2.

Good luck with the 140 millions of sale microsoft.

The race for second and third place in the console wars from last generation was very close between the XBox and Gamecube. The XBox outsold the Gamecube by around 2 million consoles. The XBox 360 has marginally outsold the PS3 this generation and it could end up with either system finishing a few

XBox and Gamecube were the two most powerful consoles of last generation. PS3 and XBOx 360 are the two most powerful systems of this generation.

The PS2 is similar to the XBox 360 in regards to having more games than its competitors and being released before its competitors.

In regards to sales it is a different story the PS2 is in a league of its own being a cheap DVD player which a lot of people bought last generation and the PS2 is still selling today almost 10 years since it was released in Japan back in May 2000. PS2 has a 80% market share of last generation and no system including the Wii will ever see a market share of 80%. Competition in the market has changed things for the better with a more fairer distribution of market share instead of a monopoly where the game industry goes no where.

I'd say Xbox 360 is still the Xbox, PS3 is the gamecube, and Wii is the PS2.

No. The only mistake the 360 made was rushing a faulty system. If people knew the technology was at least 90% reliable the 360 would've sold wayyyy more. Thats their only flaw. The Wii has made it's own way and thus the 360 sealed its second place and early passing of the last gen sales of the Xbox by using the PS2's gameplan. The PS3 is the Xbox because their run was exactly like the Xbox. The Wii is just like the gamecube... standing alone whether its at the bottom or at the top because it isn't HD or doesn't have playability like the other consoles.

AHAAHAAHAAAAAAAA

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaahhaha

Not rushing the release would have meant :  no early release = no free sales = Dreamcast faith ....

outisde this, I think the OP is correct

Time to Work !

Plus, the PS2 had the disk read error - the 360 had RROD.

I concur with this list. Folks will continue to hate on the 360's success - but in the end, it's all about gaming.

What, son, what? New York, New York!!!

Similarities between $ony and M$ last Gen and this Gen..

Last Gen:

PS2 was released before the Xbox.

PS2 Had the exclusives.

PS2 being first on the market gave the Devs a favorite, easier, system to work on, so Ports went to Xbox. The PS2 was hard to develop for.

Xbox was a more powerful system in some aspects.

Xbox had more bang for your buck, Hard drive, built in Ethernet and such.

Xbox games were in HD not the 480p games but the 720p and 1080i games, It was the first HD system. Which games? And I remember ypu could play god of War II in HD as well.

This Gen:

360 was released before the PS3

360 Has the exclusives Suddenly the PS3 has no exclusives?

360 being first on the market gave the Devs a favorite, easier, system to work on, so Ports went to PS3

PS3 is a more powerful system in some aspects

PS3 has more bang for your buck, Blu-Ray, WiFi, and such.

PS3 games are on Blu-Ray, it's the first Blu-Ray HD system.

I think that's a fair comparison between last gen and this gen.
