Sony got cocky and got the attitude that they were infallible, that their gaming division could do no wrong. They got into the mindset that the Playstation brand-name would always reign supreme, no matter the cost.

They learned the hard way that brand name means a LOT less than they thought.

Have you considered that Sony at this day and age really has less to offer to gamers than MS. Being a hardware company...and with wii showing that graphics and proessing power on paper doesn't matter...Sony is stuck playing catchup to MS in the online department, in the ease of game development department...something MS has had experience in since the 90s.

A console isn't a computer. It's an entertainment device - What was the last entertainment device that cost $600 that did well?

Sony deserves getting manhandled by Microsoft and Nintendo - Neither system is arrogant about their system (for now), and is doing their best to gain audiences - not Sony, though.

Buisness is buisness, and guess what, cheating is the perfect way to win.

I remember people making the $ame complaint about $ony and GTA3 when everyone on PC and Xbox wanted to play it, but I guess that was ok.

This is normal operating procedure for Microsoft.  I seriously don't understand why people think Microsoft's practices would have been any different in the console market then any other market.

Some of the practices were similar to what Sony did to Sega, but Microsoft is on another level...

Some of it was fair competition, and clever strategy.  The biggest problem I have with Microsoft is they seriously do it to not only attempt to get the best market share as a friendly rival, but the do seriously do try to drive their competition out of business.  The do not simply use a companies weakness against them, such as high price and weak library, they use it to crush them...  by undercutting the cost even further, and buying exclusives away.

 

Microsoft is being nice right now. They aren't a company that you can allow the learn how a new market works. Sony needed to keep them wet behind the ears and keep them weak, but they got arrogant. Microsoft ace carded them with their own gameplan. Sony may be evil, but Microsoft is twice as evil and dominant. Right now they are playing nice until they have reached full power.

If Microsoft takes out Sony this gen, they will either take out or buy out Nintendo next gen.



My most anticipated games:  Whatever Hideo Kojima is going to do next, Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy Versus XIII, Gran Turismo 5, Alan Wake, Wii Sports Resort.  Cave Story Wiiware.

Neither company is evil. How can any company that puts out great consoles and games be considered evil? Selling consoles at a loss and making it up with software sales is not evil. It's how business is run. I don't know how many people have said this already in this thread, but you retards who keep saying "MS/Sony are evil!" need to read those posts. Now.

By the way, I'd say the companies are more arrogant than evil.
