lol, yes the ds has really gone insane on a world scale now, and particularly japan.
it is interesting however looking at the world comparison charts with a launch aligned ds and gba. i tried that and remembered gba would be missing pal sales so i checked shipment numbers.... ds lifetime sales are over 45 mil now, but looking at gba for same period, and estimating pal probably puts it at almost 45 mil too.

so ds so far hasnt done much better than gba, except it had a slow 1st year in comparisson, so maybe it is doing better [similar totals for the period sales but ds currently faster]
ok i think i made one point about three times there, not deleting it 'cos it takes ages to backspace on wii

^The only reason DS has not done as well as GBA is because the GBA is competing against the DS. Had the GBA stopped selling so well(beat PS3 several months this year) after DS was released, it would be doing much better than the DS. Also, it is competing against the PSP.

If you take into consideration that the DS has been competing against 2 other handhelds these few years, then the DS trully is selling spectacularly.

10, probarbly Level 5 best selling game ever.

15, The best selling game in the serie

36, Harvest moon has sold more that ever on the DS, never been a million seller.

42, Over a million by now.

59, More or less the only game EA has in Japan.

73, Atlus almost never sells more than 200k

99, A game that is still selling even when it has a number of sequals out.

DS sales isn't that bad that people belives their is some Nintendo games that dwarfs everything that is true, doesn't mean that 3rd party is doing bad numbers.

DS sales isn't that bad that people belives their is some Nintendo games that dwarfs everything that is true, doesn't mean that 3rd party is doing bad numbers.

That is a good observation.  Nintendo sell alot of games and so do third parties.  MS has a similar trend with 1st to 3rd Party games.  Sony is actually becoming more competitive with GoW and PSN.

I just wanted to clear up that the numbers are representing all first party sales.

-Wii sports and Wii play

 Means all first party minus Wii Play and Wii Sports

-Wii sports Means all first party minus Wii Sport, but including WiiPlay

All 1st Party Means all first party.

good point, i was going to put something about the psp but i forgot the gba is still popular in the US.... the US also seems the ds' worst market, i assumed that the americans just weren't keen on the strange idea [touchscreen] i did note that currently the ds is selling faster than gba though, the gameboy brand meant everyone bought one early on, wheras the lack of gameboy name, and also news of a playstation handheld probably stopped the ds from immediately soaring. in fact looking at the graphs its easy to see the ds lites influence [along with a finally decent game support]

 I think the DS falling behind the DS in other regions is just due tio the fact that most adults wouldn't be caught dead with one.  I personally bring it almost everywhere.
