If you take into consideration that the DS has been competing against 2 other handhelds these few years, then the DS trully is selling spectacularly.

 

good point, i was going to put something about the psp but i forgot the gba is still popular in the US.... the US also seems the ds' worst market, i assumed that the americans just weren't keen on the strange idea [touchscreen] i did note that currently the ds is selling faster than gba though, the gameboy brand meant everyone bought one early on, wheras the lack of gameboy name, and also news of a playstation handheld probably stopped the ds from immediately soaring. in fact looking at the graphs its easy to see the ds lites influence [along with a finally decent game support]

 I think the DS falling behind the DS in other regions is just due tio the fact that most adults wouldn't be caught dead with one.  I personally bring it almost everywhere.
