ckmlb said: I don't like Musou or Gundam games really. Especially the warrior games, of which this is one. I haven't played both versions, just the PS3 one and am so unimpressed that I couldn't put it into words.
I can, on the other hand, understand the fun of playing this game but it is just too straightforward for me. I still don't get how these gams are huge in Japan but better games in the genre are ignored largely (be they Japanese made or American) except maybe Devil May Cry... |
The pull of Dynasty Warriors has more to do with the characters then the gameplay. Your Sun Jian and your plowing through Li Biao's armies. That's worth the Price of admission alone. If you know anything about the history of the time period or read the novel(which is largely nothing like the history) these games offer you far more then anything else in the genre can based on the stories it tells including the "what ifs". Though sometimes a lot of the story may be lost to people who don't know the history.
Plus it's a great Co-op game. The gameplay can get old quick though that's for sure. Of course that's the genius of the games. You have a large amount of characters you can play with a small number of stages for each. I can beat the game with Cao Ren and Guan Yu, get bored play something else for a while and come back to beat it with Zhang Fei and Sun Ce.
