Forums - Sony - Valkyria Chronicles anime confirmed, starts airing Spring next year

http://www.ps3fanboy.com/2008/11/12/valkyria-chronicles-anime-in-production/

If you've been playing Valkyria Chronicles you've probably noticed that the story is excellent and the characters are superbly lovable. We've actually thought a couple of times whilst playing that we'd love an anime based on the game. It seems our wishes have come true as it has been announced today that a series has been greenlit and will be shown in Japan in the Spring.

There's no indication on whether we'll ever see a localized version in the west. If you want to show Sega you're interested in an English voiced version, feel free to go ahead and buy the game. Anime fans and SRPG fans alike won't be disappointed. We'll have our full review up before the end of the week.

That's interesting, sadly I haven't played the game (I want to), so I don't know if the story is good or not for the TV, someone who has played it can tell me. Anime adaptations of games have been so-so, Persona wasn't bad, but it was completely unrelated to any game, Devil May Cry was much more faithful, but I didn't like it too much

I'm sure the VC anime will see US release at some point no matter how well it sells. Blue Dragon didn't sell very well in the US but that didn't stop Viz from releasing the anime. Of course, Viz liscensed the anime before the game's US release.

Hope it hits the net soon after that! with subs!

Yeah, will be fansubbed no problem. I look forward to it.

I'm sure that almost nobody cares if it gets a western release or not, everyone (included myself, if I ever watch it) will watch it fansubbed, the way it should be watched

Definitely would see it fansubbed. I am a bit wary because other video games to anime adaptions weren't exactly so hot in terms of quality but I will check it out.

Yup, that's usually the case with Anime. The only exception being Trigun, I found it being far better with English VA.

I don't know much with Anime, as I haven't watched that many, and if I did I don't have access to the English dub anyway. But with games, I haven't seen a single game where the english dub comes close to the japanese dub (OK, maybe in Disgaea, the english dub is pretty good, though the japanese one is still better). So I always play (or watch) with Japanese voices if I have the chance

Very cool. I'll keep an eye out for sure.

I'll buy first the game.
