Forums - Sony - MGS4 quite simply the greatest game this gen no doubt!!

@Zen

Played 1 and loved it. Tried 2 and hated it so skipped 3. I bought 4 after reading the reviews, first and last time I do that. It was a mistake on my part.

How did you hate 2?

Easily one of the best in the series.

lol, no Domo, 2 isn't the best of the series. It's by far the worst. The story is just a jumbled mess, the bosses suck, and Snake is barely in the game.

Yes, MGS2 sucks. It's godaweful. I hate, hate, hate it.

Yet, MGS1 and 3 are both magnificant works of art.

I put MGS4 about equal with MGS3, and lower than MGS1.

Yes, this is just my opinion, but most MGS fans, those who have played the whole series, not the ones from this site, kinda dislike MGS2...and Raiden was one of the largest mistakes in gaming.

dawve knows what I'm talking about.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

@Zen

I disagree.

I liked Raiden alot as a main character. I think his biggest obstacle to get over was the fact that he was not Solid Snake. But, personally, I enjoyed playing as Raiden, and am sad that I will not have the opportunity to do so again in a new game.

Funny though, how so many people tout MGS3 as being vastly superior to 2, yet MGS2 has the highest metacritic rating out of all of the MGS games. (http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/ps2/metalgearsolid2)

That being said, it's all a matter of opinion, and there are those who agree with me, and those that will agree with Zen.

Great game indeed, definitelly my fav ever, with MGS3 a close 2nd.

The story is so amazingly inspired, long and elaborate that is almost overwhelming. There's an amazing cast of characters all with different emotions and profoundly humane reactions to the contexts presented in the game.
The last scene (wouldn't wanna spoil it for those that havent't played it yet) suffice to say it is probably the most inspiring piece of drama i've seen on the silver screen.
Of course, the gameplay, graphics, audio are great as well and the cutscenes are the most amazingly produced cutscenes you'll ever see in a video game and quite frankly better directed than some recent Hollywood blockbusters.

This one is for the history books no doubt about it.

Yep I gotta agree about the story Zen and I think 2 just didn't feel the same after finishing 1 so many times. I really enjoyed 1, I replayed it recently and still enjoyed as much as I ever did.

Yeah, defenders use that a lot(I argue this a lot on my other forums, lol) but the game simply isn't fondly remembered by most MGS fans. :P

It was the biggest game on the PS2(and along with FFX, the reason most people chose the PS2 early on) and reviewers got caught up in the hype.

MGS3 and 4 actually delivered on the hype behind themselves.

Again, opinions differ, but whoever thought taking Solid Snake out of Metal Gear Solid was a good idea, needs to be thrown out of a small aircraft over Alaska without a parachute.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

It is an awesome game.

Thought the sneaking in Act 3 made me want to smash the PS3 to bits.

Or, maybe, some people should try to open up their minds a little bit and actually give him a shot instead of whining about him not being Snake.

When you're skilled and leet like Zenfoldor, you can slide through the whole game without ever being discovered.
