Forums - Gaming - Is it possible to make one game that nobody dislikes?

No way. If everyone liked one game, then someone (probably a teenager) would hate it just to look cool. Oh you dislike the perfect game, you are so hardcore!!!

The opposite is possible, a game that everyone dislikes. Try Superman 64.

Well I don't think it's possible, however I have never met someone who played Beyond Good and Evil and disliked it.

Well, taking your question word-for-word, the answer would have to be NO.

But I also think it is theoretically possible for there to be a game that no one who doesn't dislike the genre dislikes. I don't know if any game company can achieve that though. Nintendo is probably the closest, and before anyone says "zOMG fanboi" think about Mario, Zelda, etc. Yes, I'm sure there exist fans of 3D platformers that hate Mario 64, but one has to admit that they're ultra-rare aberrations in an ocean of admiration.

My advice to fanboys: Brag about stuff that's true, not about stuff that's false. Predict stuff that's likely, not stuff that's unlikely. You will be happier, and we will be happier.

If there was only one console, some people would still hate that one console, and not play video games at all.

Even if there was one console owners of that one console would still hate some games other people like. People don't always agree and have different tastes. I'm a big Nintendo fan, yet I hated Super Mario Sunshine.

Looks at movies. Check out imdb's top 250 List and read the reviews. Even the highest rated films will have occasional
bad reviews. A lot will probably be jerks trolling, but you'll also find people who simply express thier dislike for a certain movie and why.

Never met anyone who doesn't like Guitar Hero.

I don't think there is a game that no one likes either. I remember one person who stated that they kind of enjoyed Superman for the Nintendo 64, and E.T. for the Atari 2600.

I wonder if anyone doesn't like Toy Story, because Toy Story got 100% in www.rottentomatoes.com. Anyone dislike Toy Story? Than again, Toy Story is a movie, and not a game.

What about Mario Kart DS? Anyone dislike that? Some would probably think it's too kiddish. Halo? Nope, some hate first person shooters. Final Fantasy? Some hate RPGs... Damn it... Sonic Adventure? Nope... I don't think there is a game. There are 6 billion people in the world. Even if a game was perfect, some idiot would find something, probably not even true, about the game, and not like it.

By the way, I don't like Guitar Hero. I want to like it, in case I'm the only person who doesn't like it, which is highly unlikely anyways, but I just don't like it. Not a fan of music games (damn you Donkey Konga!). By the way, some people who are highly religious wouldn't like "Beyond Good and Evil" because... Well... It's evil.

Simple answer: no.

You will never please everyone.

So just aim to please as many as you can, and yourself, and that's the best you can be expected to do.
