I'm glad Blizzard decided to ban this many people for their free MMO's, but I know there are many, many, many, people in WoW that use 3rd party hacks

yes Blizzard has banned WoW players before, but nothing this big, that would be a lot of monthly charges lost in WoW.

According to folks at Blizzard, this is on top of an additional 7,700 Warcraft III accounts getting the same treatment. We won't miss you, you cheating sons of bitches — no postcards necessary. StarCraft and Diablo II Battle.net Ban Policy Update

As part of our continued effort to ensure a fair and fun online experience for all Battle.net players, we have expanded our efforts to remove cheaters from StarCraft and Diablo II. We have identified and closed over 350,000 StarCraft and Diablo II accounts which were found to be using third-party hacks.

The Diablo II CD keys associated with the closed Diablo II accounts are now restricted from playing on Battle.net for approximately 30 days. Repeat offenders will have their accounts closed and their CD keys permanently banned from Battle.net.

As a reminder, we reserve the right to close the accounts and ban the CD keys of players who are caught cheating on Battle.net. Cheating ruins the game experience for legitimate players, and we will not tolerate it.

 

Just a note-- WoW allows third party programs as long as they don't play for you.  You can even control as many characters as you want with a single keyboard and mouse and that's fine as long as you're the one inputting the commands.

And I'm not denying people cheat in WoW, I'm just saying not all the 3rd party programs are against the ToS.

350K may sound like a lot and yes they have banned more, up to 500K, last year I remember it.

But really, when 11 million players play WoW, 350K is nothing. Especially when there are probably 2-3mil gold farmers out there.

But good job Blizz, glad they seem to be cracking down more :P

This is BattleNet, not WoW.

Those are not MMOs at all, they are simply games. Also this may explain why my CDKey is disabled I haven't been online in months and I tried to play DOTA the other day and it's disabled. I'm trying to work stuff out with Blizzard now but I will be VERY pissed if they don't unlock my CD-Key. I have literally done nothing online except log-in and play. I don't even run that banlist app in the background.
