Yes I do think Crisis core was better then FFXII. FFXII was mediocre at best, more FFVIII then FFVII. I wasn't a big fan of the new battle system, the dull graphics or Vahn in general.


You're right about the valk profile, I forgot it was Tri Ace/Enix. So there's one good Enix game. Still doesn't change that the vast majority of good games were not Enix though.

Maybe Square would have begun to suck even without Enix. Somehow in about 2002 they decided they wanted to make all kinds of crap instead of what they were good at, semi hard core console RPGs. Then suddenly animated movies started, exploitation mobile games....all kinds of junk. I miss the pre 2002 Square that just concentrated on making the best RPGs around on the best console of the given generation.

Maybe it was their leadership. Every time I see or hear him Yoichi Wada strikes me as an ass hat. I would bet you the time that Square started to go down the crapper coincided with his rise to leadership (I know he has been Square Enix president since 2003, I think he was pres since the early 2000s but I'm not positive, Wikipedia didn't know :-/.)

Although Final Fantasy Funky Adventure does sound kinda fun... (Get on it Square... hell you done just about everything else.)

oh and I don't maintain Square Soft was perfect. Anyone play Final Fantasy Mystic Quest? But they were occasional miss and BIG hit. Now they're a constant string of swing and a miss. It's like watching a pitcher at bat in the big leagues. The best you can really hope for is a half decent bunt.

That´s retarded to say, because Enix never was a developer. At what they did they were great: fund developers, supervise them and publish their great games, nothing more nothing less.

Enix also has Star Ocean, which is a great franchise

It isn't so retarted to me. I ALWAYS thought Enix made their DQ games with their own inside teams, insted of publishing and supervising.

As for SO, you're right on that.

Enix was a far more Japan-centric publisher than Squaresoft was; many of their most highly-regarded games never saw the light of day in English-speaking territories.

Enix could deliver the Next Grandia to if it ever comes out.

I have to agree with the OP..

I grew up on the SNES playing all the bad ass Square RPG's, Secret of mana, FF games, Mario RPG just too many to count, Then on the PSX, i have alot of good memories playing most of their RPGs, Honestly though, This is my opinion but i felt like Square died when the PS2 came out, Dont get me wrong some RPGs where good on the PS2 but not as memorable as the SNES or PSX.

I remember playing FFX on the PS2 Super hyped, just to be dissapointed, by the fact that it was so fucking Linear, no over world map! wtf =( The only good one on the PS2 from SE was FF12, i liked ALOT, It wasnt as Epic like when i played FF7,8,9 ect but it was good.

Let's just hope SE gives us the games we really want soon Erhmm, Next mana game, Next Chrono game!
