@Sky-The numbers are the only thing that matters in the end. No console is going to "have a year" unless they can be profitable and selling near the top. 360 and PS3 are both languishing at the bottom, kicking themselves for not thinking up this first, and no amount of internet praise for their strategies are going to tell them any different.

Nobody will win the HD console war, unless you idea of winning is "HAHA! You lost 6 billion and I only lost 2 billion! I win!".

 we are talking about seventh generation consoles. you are ignoring the wii and the numbers its producing because its not an hd console. thats all i was pointing out.

 I think the point being made is that you're rearranging goalposts, actually.  Mostly by using a buzzword that ultimately only refers to a TV output standard which is pretty close to identical to what PC monitors have been doing for about 20 years now.

Well, as you can see, it's pretty obvious that even though Nintendo sells a lot more than the competition, it doesn't matter because they still have sold 0 HD console.
