Forums - Gaming - Which generation is your favorite?

You have to consider age here.

People generally think their 1st generation is the best. Well, people pre-NES and some Nes and then SNES people are the exceptions.

A person who is 17-22 would generally tell you that 4th gen was best.

Someone who is 22-30 would generally say 3rd gen

14-17 would say 5th gen

Less than 14 would say 6th gen.

Personally, I say 5th gen by a long shot. The N64 had everything. I feel that every other gen is pretty bad to be honest. I don't like 3rd and 4th gen, and 6th gen was a bit of a let-down for me. 7th gen is a fresh start and (to me), the spiritual successor to the 5th gen.

@Oyvoyvoyv

True but I based my decision on the types of games which came out, and the new gameplay options

Currently Playing: Mass Effect (360)

4th Generation - SNES my favorite system of all time
7th Generation - I have never played games so much as this generation

Hi, this is Vince with Shamwow.

I am old my first generation was atari 2600 days and that was not the best generation..

PS3, WII and 360 all great systems depends on what type of console player you are.

Currently playing Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, Fallout 3, Halo ODST and Dragon Age Origins is next game

The one before this, I owned two great consoles and had fun year round with heaps of quality titles.

Without any doubt in my mind, the 5th. Even the 6th is far behind.

edit: Calamity made a good point with this "enclosed world" thing. Good job dude.

Yeah, N64 and PS is a truly epic combo in hindsight but for me there weren't enough established footholds on the PS platform and Nintendo lost quite a lot of support so its a close second for me. Still, both 6 and 5 beat the living hell out of the 7th imo.

Oh you bet dude. No crap such as DLC, online, just good ol' simple console gamig. With your friends or late at night, with a good RPG.

Well, we're only 2-3 years into the generation right now. Most high quality games tend to come towards the later part of the generation. Well, for anyone but Nintendo published games actually. Nintendo usually has their top support early, and less afterwards (which is logical, they support console for 3 years, then handheld for 2 years, repeat).

So comparing this generation to the previous would be unfair to this one.

BTW, your sig isn't going to well. Currently, 2 out of 4 have broke it, and 1 will make it by the end of the year.

I'm not one to judge though, I predicted that SSBB would never pass SMG in sales 2 weeks before it did...
