We don't provide the 'easy to program for' console that they [developers] want, because 'easy to program for' means that anybody will be able to take advantage of pretty much what the hardware can do, so the question is what do you do for the rest of the nine and half years? It's a learning process. - SCEI president Kaz Hirai

It's a virus where you buy it and you play it with your friends and they're like, "Oh my God that's so cool, I'm gonna go buy it." So you stop playing it after two months, but they buy it and they stop playing it after two months but they've showed it to someone else who then go out and buy it and so on. Everyone I know bought one and nobody turns it on. - Epic Games president Mike Capps

We have a real culture of thrift. The goal that I had in bringing a lot of the packaged goods folks into Activision about 10 years ago was to take all the fun out of making video games. - Activision CEO Bobby Kotick

people can u tell me if the price drop is for the Core ? the premium ? or the Elite ?

because we all know entry price is important and in the advertissement they only focus on the PREMIUM 349$.

so which SKU will have a price drop the 1st august ? all ?

According to the rumours I've seen for Portugal, the price drop is for both models.

Xbox 360 Elite hasn't been launched in Europe yet. It will be launched in August 24th, hopefully with a reduced price already. I haven't seen any rumours regarding this model.

I was really considering buying a 360 awhile ago but was waiting mostly for a pricedrop and fixing the issues with the hardware. But now they've announced some of the games I wanted on the 360 for the PC so there's fewer reasons for me to want it.... Either way, I wouldn't be getting it until Christmas or early 2008. A lot of my college friends have them and play together on Xbox live which is still one of my major reasons for wanting one.

To cash in my CC rewards points for $300 in Circuit City gift cards to purchase a 360 or not: That is the question.

Ceres,
With how many of the great titles that were only on Xbox to get ported to PC with bonus content (Fable for example), If your PC can cope, the really big guns for 360 will come to the PC.

It's really an interesting development, as earlier on PC games compared to consoles were more buggy and allowed to be less refined thanks to patches. Now, it seems, since consoles have timed exclusives to the big games, the PC versions come with more content and are more polished these days. It's rather ironic, because as a child I bought the console versions of games due to their lack of bugs ( in comparison ) better overall smoothness, and ease of use.
