apples to apples. If they are making a 65nm chip to go into the "falcon" model, they WOULD NOT continue production on models that cost them a 1.1 billion dollar warranty, just think about it. like this post said:

If the 80GB model comes out at the same price as the 60GB, then that's a price cut.

 From what I can tell, MS isn't going to clearance the current 360s with a price cut and then re-introduce Falcon at the original price.  The price drop is going to stay when the  new model comes out.

The 80gb model has motorstorm and will likely be released alone for $499.99, if not stay bundled with motorstorm. And the falcon is not a new model, its a silver 360 with the 65nm chip so it would catch less heat. The system will come with the same 20gb HDD, and the ps3 will come with a larger 80gb if you were to compare it to the 60gb as well as bring a game for the price of $599.99,which to me is a price cut.

Oooh. According to the image, walmart's gonna have the wii in stock that day, too. Anyone want to wager what sells faster?

On topic: I think the fact that the xbox360 is being researched more than the wii is bad news, not good news. It means that a lot of people are probably seeing a lot of failure stories. Personally, I won't touch a 360 until they introduce the falcon. MS would be wise to make a whole redesign of it, so people won't be confused between the old breaky hardware and the new presumably not so breaky hardware.

You're just making that assumption with MS, you do not KNOW what MS has planned, they have not officially announced the new chipset, model, etc.

I think both companies are going to do the EXACT same thing. Sell through current inventories at the reduced price then afterwards, probably aimed for Black Friday, have the new models at the new prices. Sony just already told us their intentions(for the time being) for their new model, MS hasn't. A Gears of War bundle or whatever sounds plausible.

Well it's becoming more and more certain that this is a true stroy. Apparently the Hollywood report was right, it's coming on 8/8/07.

I hope the rumour I posted earlier about a 100 € price cut for Europe is true! In some way it makes sense, and it also puts Sony in a bit of pressure in Europe, since they didn't cut the price yet. Considering what I've seen on that forum, I'm betting that this rumour is true.
