I've played about 3 hours of R2's campaign so far. I'm about to beat Gears 2. I don't play online multiplayer, and haven't, nor shant play online multiplayer for either game.

I assume that R2 has better online multiplayer and it's my opinion that Gears 2 has a better campaign.

I think Gears of War 2 is better.  I didn't play resistance 2 and I won't.

Personally, and I've been a strong supporter of R2, but I agree with ZEN. R2's campaign just isn't as polished or smooth as Gears 2's. Also, it supports Coop! Huge bonus! The online however, I would give to R2 by a small margin. Overall, I would give them about the same score if not Gears a little higher, but that's saying a lot as Gears 2 has proven to be my favorite Xbox exclusive as of right now.

I think because Gears 2 was designed for the main campaign to be played as a co-op first, that it, along with Gears 1, has the best local, and best 2p co-op on any game before it. L4D might have the best 4p co-op, and best online co-op, but it doesn't have the best 2p or local co-op, and it also came out after Gears 2, so my original statement is correct.

I was talking about the article, which puts R2 above Gears2, not some trash site thats picks and chooses what sites to take rankings from.  And i've played R2 extensively since it came out, its a fun game, and its better then average, but its far from great.  They also took out many features the first game had and made this one worse in many areas.  So i said, unless Gears2 is shit i don't see how he found R2 better.

I completely agree with you ZEN. Unfortunately, I'm not sure if I'll be able to play L4D myself due to buying so many games lately. But maybe....just maybe. :)

The R2 Coop online is amazing too. Too bad you don't play online, it's a much different and unique experiance and R2's entire selling point to me personally. But it's not like you won't have so many other amazing games to play this season. It's insane the number of quality titles coming out for the 360 and ps3 this season. Unfortunately, not for the wii in my opinion.

Oh, ok, well, you've made a misassumption.

This article says that Resistance 2 has a mediocre campaign. Calls it run-of-the-mill and is pretty harsh on it.

The same site loves Gears 2's campaign. It's certainly the best part of the game.

Again, multiplayer. They were quite harsh about the campaign. See my earlier post in blue.

If you lend your acceptance to this article, you are admitting that R2's campaign sucks, is what it comes down to.

You see the title of the article is:

Resistance 2 gives PS3 devs a blueprint for online play

It really is focused on the online experience, not the campaign, which if flames.

So, you can either admit that Gears 2 has a better campaign, and R2 might just have a saving grace in its online multiplayer, or you can discredit this article and claim that R2 has an equal campaign to Gears 2. Your choice. Either way, it's nothing good for R2, unless you're in that "campaign doesn't matter" camp.

I'm more in the "I only care about the campaign" camp.

Edit: Also, yeah, the article doesn't say Gears 2 is worse than R2. It says that some things about R2 are better. Namely the online multiplayer, not the campaign, or anything that has anything to do with single-player. The run-of-the-mill campaign is the reason R2 hasn't necessarily been the hit with critics we all assumed it would be.
