hey reddevil, does this look familiar:
lol, I'm just teasing you
Not at all. I like having different flavors of gameplay. Playing a game for 40 hours gets really boring. Bring on Sega Saturn length games! (2-5 hours)
I just buy the games sued for $10-$25, so who cares how long they are? If you want long games, go play Blue Dragon, Lost Oddessy, Halo 3, Little Big Planet, Warhawk, Smash Bros Brawl, Mario Kart Wii, Tales of Vesperia, Eternal Sonta, or any other game with a long single player/multiplayer mode.
no way i'm gonna spend $60 on a 10-20 hour game. If it's a 10-20 hour game i'm either going to rent it or wait til it gets cheaper and buy it.
currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X
I tend to agree. I have a 15 hr of gameplay minimum myself, but that includes online or multiplayer. Any less is just a rental.
You shouldn't have to play the game multiple times to get your money's worth.

Well, it depends. If a game has a great but short campaign (many FPS games) it can be frustrating because you want the awesomeness to continue. However, I often play the games over and over because they're awesome. Difficulty can make a difference as well. Take the Halo series for example. On easy and normal the game is a breeze and unsatisfying. But when you get to Heroic or Legendary the difficulty ramps up and it takes longer to finish, and it's more satisfying to get through. Speedrunners don't seem to mind the length of the games though.

wow, most pay about 10 for a movie ticket for a 2 hour movie and you pay only 6 times as much for 6-10 times the gameplay and it's a rip? Sweet jesus.... I geuss one large pizza, 10 wings from Domino's is a huge rip at 25 because it lasts me only 20 minutes to eat it all.
It's $12 to see a movie in Manhatten for a 2 hour film (of course there are longer movies), and that's before buying any food (trust me you don't want to know the prices). $6 an hour for the movie is the same as paying $60 for a 10 hour game (Gears 2 is 11+). Add on top of that most of the big games have multiplayer, or unlock harder modes as you go along as well. I guess none of you were around for buying Laserdiscs
Look at game development budgets, compared to total gross income from individual games over the years, and you will know why games cost *at least* $60. The profit margins are a lot slimmer than they used to be.
Sadly, HD gaming costs too much to develop for. The fierce competition to beat the other guy's tech has gotten so bloody that no one really "wins" any more... not the developer, not the publisher, and especially not the consumer.
