Forums - Gaming - Rumor: Kitase and Nomura will leave square enix after FFXIII.

If this does in fact happen and Kitase and Nomura leave and go create Cloudstrider or Fogrunner, then Sony should do their best to acquire them.

Although if what is being said is true and Nomura/Kitase "love" Sony, then they wouldn't even need to do that.

Isn't Amano only doing the design for the logo of the game, like he did with XII?

According to wiki

Final Fantasy XII 2006 PlayStation 2 Promotional Artwork, Title Logo Designer & Image Illustrator
Final Fantasy XIII  ? PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 Promotional Artwork, Title Logo Designer & Image Illustrator
Final Fantasy Agito XIII  ? PlayStation Portable Promotional Artwork, Title Logo Designer & Image Illustrator
Final Fantasy Versus XIII  ? PlayStation 3 Promotional Artwork, Title Logo Designer & Image Illustrator

And Nojima hasn't been confirmed in any role in any upcoming FF

Wrong. He has been announced as one of the FFXIII's script writers after E3 2006. He was then been announced as Versus's "Scenario Designer" this summer. He also was one of the 4 people who came up with the whole "Fabula Nova Crystalis" idea.

Well Square had gone down hill creativly since Wada became CEO.

So it wouldn't surprise me if the creative people were upset with him.

He's obviousy trying to earn money... but even with the monolith franchise that FF is, he's in the wrong genre. Creativity in RPG's is key, and who knows what he has changed in projects since he became CEO.

Oh yeah, but it still makes people angry.  The mass recycling of remakes and ports started when Wada became CEO.

They started focusing more on the "Big" franchises and started making less original new stuff... etc.

I'm not too angry with the remakes and ports, they're good. I have FF IV DS, and will get CT DS as well... but what bothers me, is that there's nearly no creativity in SE anymore. Remember SNES-PS1 days? now THOSE were the times... now... I don't see any new IP's from them.. save for TLR.

They could assimilate in Level-5, who are in great relations with Sony. When Sony has the financial freedom, using L5, they could create their own (sony's) RPG studio. With how good the L5 crew is, I don't see a need in forming a new studio :P

The problem is that people are looking for "creativity" from Square in the wrong places. The Final Fantasy series, at its best, would be a blank canvas for them to experiment on, thereby producing their best games, over and over, without having to stick to the same formula.

They succeeded with this model using Final Fantasy XII, making the best Final Fantasy in over a decade, but I get the feeling that Western fanboy reaction to the changes will....

Have no effect whatsoever, actually.

Here's hoping that XIII is just as different from its predecessors!

That's just because as Wada has said before... they are putting more focus towards their main brands.

The ports and remakes aren't bad... but they do take away new IP money etc...

Yes, obviously, thank you for reiterating that for the fifth time in this topic alone. Do you plan to actually express an opinion regarding Final Fantasy, as a series, existing as a freeform canvas, or is the entirety of you thought concerning the idea encompassed in "FFXII = not so great"?

Nojima is doing the Scenario writing for Versus? That is awesome

He did VII, VII, X and I think both KH. (or was it just the first?) I know IX was a different guy...Aoki i believe. (checks Wikipedia) Yeah it was Aoki, who apparently also directed FF:CC. Then Watanabe did FFXII, who is also doing the 3 new KH games.

Nah. They're pretty easy to do in comparison to new IP's. I see the problem in that they are a good alternate source of money... almost no effort, good money in. Why do new IP's?
