I've heard a few people argue this topic on this site over the months/years, and I recently noticed something myself. I wouldn't like the story half as much if it wasn't for the FF characters, especially the main three characters: Sora, Riku, and Kairi.

Part of the reason why I loved seeing what happened next in the story was because I was interested in those three characters the most, everything Disney was second in importance.

So, do people here like Kingdom Hearts more because of the Disney characters, or the non-Disney ones (Particularly Sora, Riku, and Kairi)?

The same goes for levels, I guess. I'm pretty much 50/50 (Disney/Other) on this one.

Wait, disney characters are still popular? Does anyone outside of small children watching the disney network have any interest whatsoever in mickey mouse and co?

Disney characters were always the main draw for me. Well more specifically because of Donald Duck, and that's really more nostalgia related then anything else. Sora, Riku, and Kairi always seemed like a source of uninteresting drama, but I did enjoy cameos from other FF characters.

That said, I like KH for the original cast (though Donald and Goofy are up there, too). Also, Sora, Riku, and Kairi are not Final Fantasy characters. They're Kingdom Hearts characters. It's like calling Batman a Superman character because Superman appeared in Batman's comic.

 Bah, Yeah, this is about what I was gonna say. More or less. I like most of the main Disney characters. And Lion King. Just 'cause I was really into that back in the day.

That's like asking if Smash Bros is popular because of the Nintendo characters. In other words, yes.

Ugh, could you imagine if they added High School Musical stuff to the new Kingdom Hearts?

I know they're not from any FF game, but they always seem to be categorized under the FF characters when people talk about the games. Sora does have huge feet though, so maybe one of his parents is a FF character and one a Disney character... Mmmmm.. :P

Sora, Kairi and Riku ARE Disney characters...

The FF characters are fanservice that add nothing to the overall series.
