According to an IM I recieved from ioi earlier today. So don't take it out of context (and blame me, not him for the title).
ioi let me know that Gears of War 2 is shaping up to be between 350,000-400,000 in the United Kingdom alone. That's roughly 3 times as much as Fable 2 (which sold 300k in all of PAL).
So taken into context, Halo 3 sold 411,000 units on it's first week, with 5 days to track. Unless there'd be some sort of insane dropoff, or unexpected extrapolation(s), that would put Gears of War 2 on a pace to beat Halo 3 in the UK in short order. GTAIV will most likely be safe, but it may outsell Halo 3's LTD at some point. That's amazing, but not entirely unexpected: Europeans have enjoyed Gears far better than Halo. If you look at the teir ratios of Halo 2, Halo 3 and, Gears of War, PAL territories had a much better attach rate for Gears than either Halo did, versus the United States.
I guess we'll have to stay tuned for the official numbers tommorow, but it should be on a faster pace than H3 was. Not only this, with 350-400k in UK alone, that *should* put all of PAL at 900,000-1,000,000 total unit sales in 2 days. Impressive, Starfox!
Back from the dead, I'm afraid.
