Forums - Website Topics - Vgchartz has a bad rep

Anyway, n4g.com has several good and nonbiased stories on their front page that I at least would consider newsworthy:

1. an interview w/ india's playstation boss: http://www.n4g.com/News-228965.aspx

2. Third Quarter 2008 Sales Results from Top Global Video Games Software Markets Released : http://www.n4g.com/industrynews/News-229068.aspx

3. Sony promises better moderation system for LBP: http://www.n4g.com/ps3/News-229132.aspx

4. Kotaku : Gears of War 2 Review: http://www.n4g.com/xbox360/News-229246.aspx

5. Top 10 things to look forward to in Windows 7: http://www.n4g.com/gaming/News-228979.aspx

Look, i'm not saying that vgchartz is bad in comparison at all.....just that news isn't really this website's bag. Also those trashing another website merely b/c some of the forum people that aren't even recognized representatives or administrators of n4g.com trash this website, does not give sufficient reason to trash n4g.com

It's because VGChartz data is found by only a couple of people, and the majority of its staff are just gaming enthusiasts not professionals.

I'm not agreeing with them, I'm just saying that's a valid reason why many do not trust VGChartz and why you should not take its data 100% seriously. You can use the data as esitmates.

VG Chartz is the Shit!

People just love to go against the grain when it doesn't fall in line with their personal opinion.

vgchartz uses numbers from the NPD, so our numbers pretty much have to be spot-on

Ahh, most people lost faith in this site with regards to Iron man on the PS2 (Sales Numbers) since then it's just snowballed as a general slate towards this site. As mentioned here...

Good to see this site is still going

Adding to my previous. It is claimed on many sites that the people who run the number on here cliamed themselves that they are estimates in many cases based off what sources are available. But to slate a site for getting the numbers wrong on one game is just a load of bollocks.

Upon looking at this site myself I do not expect 100% perfect numbers but only a trend of how things are going as a rough guide, anyone who slates this site or any other site in that matter and expecting 'perfect data' are delusional.

Sales numbers here are estimates. Even though they are the best estimates available at the time, they are still estimates. Many people quote them as fact on other websites. (People are also guilty of quoting NPD as fact as well)

It is easy for posters on other sites to dismiss VGC numbers as guesses. Especially when they don't want to believe the numbers. Even many people on this site do the same thing when they do not like the numbers. They just say "Wait for NPD, and I will be proven right".
