Forums - Sales - Killzone 2 or Resistance 2 - which do you think will sell more?

Killzone 2 my friends, makes everything else look like a cartoon. Judging by the Beta, I'm pretty confident it'll have a place next to Crysis and COD4 as one of the best (and I mean top 5) FPS ever. And just so the guys who haven't played the beta can have an idea, let me tell you the action and graphics in COD4 are "poor" compared to KZ2's.

The main thing I noticed about the beta is how damn addicting it is.

Killzone 2 will do about CoD4 numbers like maybe anywhere from 3.5-4.5 Million

Resistance 2 will do about Resistance 1 numbers around 3-3.5

KZ2 all the way. Im picking 4.5M LTD for that game.

Excellent multiplayer, and I hear the singleplayer is excellent also.

Agree with this, though sales might not get quite that high.  That's almost Gears levels, but the ps3 doesn't have the benefit of an extremely robust NA userbase.

It will outsell both R1 and R2, though.

My first thought was 4M but I tacked on another 500k just for good measure. It feels better to possibly over-estimate than underestimate on such a good game.

Tease.

KZ2 has yet to really become a mainstream property because the first one wasn't necessarily in the mainstream lights, at least from a positive perspective. While Resistance definitely is and easily could be tacked on as the Playstation shooter. If it were up that brand easily would put Resistance 2 over that KZ2 which would end up more like a cult hit. But as I always say Americans and Europeans nowadays love their run of the mill shooters so KZ2 could easily be picked up just like Resistance and get those kinds of sales as well.

Personally I have no idea, but if I had to guess now I'd say Resi 2.

I think Killzone 2 will pull a Call of Duty 4.  CoD4 certainly didn't sell well because of the success of CoD3.  It sold well because it was a damn good game, and the 360 version is ever so slowly gaining on Halo 3 of all games.

Not only does Killzone 2 play extremely well, it also has the FPS graphics whore angle going for it, something that helped games like CoD4 and Crysis sell well in addition to the good gameplay.

Yea but there is a lot of inherent differences between the 2.  For both versions they were the premeir shooter in both major regions during the holiday season.  That's a pretty big deal.  KZ2 has nothing of that going for it haha.  NOt to mention once again COD was already a major mainstream property, just only became larger thx to COD4.  But KZ2 is once again not this.

And I'm still a disbeliever that games sell well simply because they are good.  That is a reason but I always find a more dominating reason as to why they sell. COD4 had huge hype whether from reviews or mainstream hype months leading up to it's release and exploded given reasons said in my first paragraph.  KZ2 has only hype from online sources and between the core base but has virtually nothing from the mainstream.  Not only that but it'll miss the holiday season.

I have no doubt KZ2 will sell well and possibly over Resi 2 but imo it is nothing like the case of CoD4.

I think they both will sell about 3-4 million.

I'm a huge Insomniac fanboy but I was a bit disappointed by Resistance 2. I think Killzone 2 will be the better game overall. They're putting much more time and effort into it.

Resistance 2 has some great online modes but the campaign was nowhere near as good as the first game and the graphics can get really spotty at times with some ugly lo-res textures.

I think Resistance 2 will take a hit in sales because of when it's releasing as well, though I could be completely off base on that. I predict Killzone 2 will sell more copies.

One thing that KZ2 will have going for it is that by the time it's released the PS3 install base will be substantially boosted from now. By February in America PS3 should be at least 8 million and in Others over 10 million.

And as others have said it will have little to no competition. If the final product turns out good and Sony does a proper ad campaign then this game should do 4 million sales minimum.

edit- Resistance 2 should sell ~3 million so I do believe KZ2 will have greater sales.

KZ2 sales will depend on the competition. Though, i have a feeling they (Sony) will completely screw the marketing up just as they did with Resistance 2.
