Forums - Nintendo - If one Nintendo franchise had to bite it.

Well, correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the topic, what is most likely to die and NOT what you want to die? or did I miss something.

Most of these are derived from mario though. this is exactly my point.....

All of them. I believe BK used the SM64 engine.

I don't think Mario needs to be replaced though; the conventions can be broken when Miyamoto feels like it. Look at SMW vs. SMW2 vs. SM64. They are three consecutive Mario games, all perfect, but are very different from one another in gameplay, style, design and everything else.

Lol, your post equals win. :P

Unless a good DK platformer or DK Country comes out, somebody should probably kill that.

The Mother's series is definitely dying. The producer has stated that there are no plans for a Mother 4, despite the constant pleas.

The "Excite Series".

A minor series, and the games are now far inferior to F-Zero, Diddy Kong Racing and Mario Kart.

Simply a series we don't need.

Easy... F-Zero... I don't see the franchise as really viable anymore... although easily could be turned over with a Wii iteration but I don't see that happening.

Rol won't be happy with that post :P

Haha well it's a good thing his happiness isn't my reason for living.  But I just don't see F-Zero as a viable property anymore.  Hasn't had a release since the GC version.  No DS or Wii version yet.  Unless we hear an announcement in the next year, this series is going to get it's pensions and move to Florida.

Couldn't you say that about pretty much every Nintendo franchise at some point. Over the last ten years or more, it's very common for Nintendo to release just one game from their main franchises on a console. Mario is a good example or Mario Kart, Smash Brothers and others. Before last year, you could've said the same thing about Smash Brothers, there wasn't a version since the GC and no DS version. That was of course until SSBB. The same is true for Mario, there was only the version for GC and a 2D style game on the DS.

There could be a F-Zero announced and it could out to be an incredible racing game and totally revitalize the series. I also feel the same for Star Fox since I noticed a few people mention that series too. It was a great game that sadly had a couple weak games as it's last two entries in the series. However, I think a Wii version would turn out to be an awesome game.

With that said, that's why I still have to say Mario Party. It hasn't really changed much over the series with the exception of the recent Wii version. Where do they go from there now? I can't see the series innovating much again from what they just did. I certainly don't expect them to end the series though because of the excellent sales.

I'll come up with something better eventually...

I would probably suggest the F-Zero series.

Did you mean to ask what is most likely to die off or what one we want to see die off? I don't know about the former but as for the latter, I'd have to say Pokemon. Let it end!
