Forums - Gaming - I just finished Gears of War 2.

Sorry, but your opinion is wrong.  Uncharted's story was cliche and forgetable.   The graphics were Uncharted's big draw.  Even the gameplay was the inferior bastard child of Tomb Raider Legend and Gears of War.  I enjoyed it, but c'mon.

I didn't say Uncharted is the best story in a game to date, it's just better then Gears 2. Gears 2 was fun as hell to play, and if I was going to replay a game, it would probably be gears 2.

But not for the story. For the action. Some locations were awesome. Uncharted was a better story, but I now know the story. No need to play it again.

Gears 2 was just pure fun.

@PSRock, I'm playing the game on normal. Probably was a bad idea because aside from a couple of scripted events, NOTHING can kill me. On the rare occasion that I do fall, Dom always revives me. When I play it on co-op, I'm kicking it up to Hardcore. Maybe even Insane.

you named the wrong person... but anyway, I did not realise that you can be revived, though most of the time I die, it seems to be either from the torque bow, totally destroyed by a turret or on one of the (stupid and distinctly average) vehicle sections

1up podcast just blasted R2 on the single player mode. It seems like they hate the story, the presenatation. I really hope this game is good.

Wait, wasn't Dom the guy who always got his ass kicked in the first game? Or was that Cole?

Well they all seemed to die in the first game... all the time, but Dom is the one who stays with you for 90% of the game. Your squad mates vary far more in this game

What I do like is that your squad mates seem to have far more health, and i have seen grenades explode very near them without them dying, but I would assume that is a glitch

Sorry Munkeh! Gotta give credit where credit is due!!

And I haven't died from combat yet! Like I said, I'm playing on normal. My AI partners are surviving full on onslaughts from Troika cannons, and I got hit by direct shots from the Torque Bow and the Boomer's Rocket Launcher and walked away. I REALLY need to ramp up the challenge. I just figured Gears 2 would be a much tougher game when I started. Only things like drowning or missing too many enemies in an "on rails" scene have killed me.

*EDIT*  What cracks me up, is when Dom does go down.  I yell "Don't worry Dom, I'm coming!!"  After I take out a few Locusts and run to where he was, I notice that Dom already crawled to where I was!!  Then, I have to haul ass through heavy gunfire back to where I ALREADY was to revive him.

How do you manage to survive torque bows? Isn't that the whole point of them?!?!?!

Anyway, I saw an interview with cliffy saying that on casual you can play the game without cover or roadie run, which I just think is entirely pointless. Hardcore is definitely a good difficulty, certainly challenging, but I haven't thrown my controller (okay I'm rubbish on a turret and that might have caused some damage! {I didn't know the use of RB})

When you say drowning are you talking about the end of act 2? I didn't really like that level

Halo 3 has the most boring, droning, and absolutely uninspired campaign I've ever seen in any game. Then again, I felt the same way about the last 2 Halo games (even more so) and I don't play enough shooters to make a comparison. Gears of War 2 looks really fun, and it only pains me knowing how I'll have to choose with all the big games coming out during the holiday season.

True... HALO 3 was my first Halo game and I was severly disappointed by the campaign (still some impressive moments...).

what's funny is that someone would jump in at the end of a series and expect to enjoy the whole experience... Halo 3 wasn't build for you... it was build purely for the Halo fan... other people playing were just a by product

@ d21lewis, Yeah, Dom is really good at crawling. I was in the middle of a firefight, and he advanced to far and died, and I just ignored him and finished the fight. I went to go and find him, and he was basically at my feet. Once I patted him on the back and he magically recovered, he then said a line that had clearly been triggered 5 minutes earlier. Great stuff!

I also liked it when I had killed a few of the enemies and one of them was a flamethrower, and his gun was just floating in the air, those glitches always make me laugh
