Forums - Gaming - What 2008 console game has the best storyline?

I have been meaning to read DKR. Neil Gaiman is absolutely awesome both for his graphic novels and ... non graphic ones. I have read almost all of Sandman and Lucifer(not Gaiman, Cross) and so far those two are only rivaled in my opinion by Edgar Allen Poe and maybe H.P. Lovecraft. whence I finally finish Sandman and DKR then I will necro this thread and let you all knoe what I think (which you may not even care).

I think what you're comparing in graphic novels is the level of writing, in which case, yes , Gaiman comes out on top. But as is true for any form of entertainment, the X-factor cannot be ignored, which DKR has in abundance, and Sandman does not. The comparison between two would be like a comparison between an Ingmar Bergman movie and a Tarantino movie. As a critic, the choice would be obvious, but which one will you enjoy more?

"Second: Sandman kicks the holy living dog Hell out of every Batman story Frank Miller ever wrote. Frank Miller writes pulp."

Sandman is for ___ goth and emo kids.

My most anticipated games:  Whatever Hideo Kojima is going to do next, Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy Versus XIII, Gran Turismo 5, Alan Wake, Wii Sports Resort.  Cave Story Wiiware.

I would enjoy Ingmar Bergman more.

We are agreed that MGS4 is first, so basically you're asking us to vote for SECOND place.

Okay, then. If BioShock counts, BioShock.

If not, Far Cry 2. I haven't actually played it, but the story looks really good.

Wrong thread?

EDIT: Wait, this thread's been seriously derailed. Never mind.

Sandman. Sandman, about thirty times Sandman.

In the interest of getting back on topic so that a mod doesn't come in here and shove a stake through my left eye:

How are we defining "storyline" in a video game? If we take it at face value it is asking for plot, rather than narrative, which means that it's asking for "which story has the coolest stuff happen in it" versus "which story is told in the best way".

...........

You do realize Blankets comes before The Dark Knight Returns on both lists right? Rightfully so also.

No stake in the eye? All right then.

Also: both lists are in alphabetical order.

Also, Time's list only includes novel length works. Sandman is too long to be on the list.
