Nonetheless, it is good that the game looks to be getting towards being commercially successful, to accompany it's critical acclaim. |
"Relative disappointment"?
No one is disappointed. It's week 1 sales of 400k and it's only in 2 regions, not counting EU. >_> If EU sales are anything like NA sales for the game, it will do another 300kish for it's opening week there, bringing it to 700k week 1 in all regions. More than my 500k week one prediction.
Disappointment would be if 1st week sales were well under 500k, but it looks like well over 500k.

I'm sorry? The game sold just over 200k week one.
That is disappointing indeed. In its second week in the US, it did well. But if you contrast words like "huge" with estimates like 500k first week WW (which games as recent as Fallout 3 and Fable 2 have shown to be decidedly un-huge) then you are bound to contribute to the sense of massive and excessive hype surrounding this title.

I never said "First week LBP numbers will be huge."
I said "LBP will be huge", which four the ninety-second thousandth time, started off as a joke because of a lot of LBP hate that the game got. It was never a denotion of sales or anything as such. It just fits well to the game. And the first week sales are 400k + EU numbers, since, as was mentioned, the Saturday October 26 release was limited quantities at limited retailers, and I'm not going into that anymore. With EU numbers added 600k - 700k seems all too likely, which would be huge for a New IP.
It's disappointing for you maybe, I don't know (or care) what you expected first week, but for someone like me who has continually stated that it will have a first week of 500k or more, I seem pretty content with the sales. Please don't try to turn "huge" into an actual number it should have hit cause it wasn't.
