Forums - Microsoft - Gears 2 Multiplayer completly broken :(

So I finally got my GOW2 from Amazon in the mail today. I have to hold back playing Campaign cause me and my roomie beat 1 together and will do the same for 2. Now that doesnt matter as Ive spent countless hours playing Gears 1 multiplayer. So I might as well jump in to it. The game plays exactly the same for the most part but.........

You MUST play a game via the auto teammate selector, unless you have friends.

Your game must have all players and only 5 rounds.

You have limited choice as to what level you play.

You cant choose to play execution or warzone individually, the type of game you play is voted at the beginning of the round

Auto Team select seems to take no consideration as to how a persons connection is(I was in a game with some guy in ALASKA and I am in NY). Some games are great for me others are complete garbage.

Im really let down and this game needs a HUGE patch ASAP, which I do not see coming for at least a few months. If I were a game reviewer I would not give this game even close to what the Gears 1 score is(IMO the beef of Gears 1 is the MP). Is anyone else crushed about the way gears MP turned out?

EDIT: You also cannot quit a match once you are in without turning off the system. I thought it was messing up but its just bad design. I understand they dont encourage people leaving games, but when Im lagged to hell why would I stick around.

EDIT 2: apparently no friendly fire matches, which I love in all my MP Shooters.

EDIT3: If there are 2 full teams in a room and every player from one team leaves the game still starts and every round goes to the team with players.

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

I don't play multiplayer games.

The exception would be fighters.

That said, I buy shooters for their campaigns.

That's probably why my "top shooters" list is different than everyone elses.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

That doesn't sound good. Why not just replicate like Halo's online setup.

Lol de problem for CDiablo is that it looks like Halo 3's online setup.

BTW I think it's great.

I just played for 10 hours. We only played system link (we had 10 people at his house).

The good news: The game is fun as hell.
The bad news: Aside from the extra player, we would have has just as much fun with Gears 1.

It's basically the same game.

Well then if the online is broken I dont understand why it received such high scores, since epic touted the online as one of the major aspects of Gears 2(not attacking the game just saying it doesnt make sense).

10 players! I have to get that going sometime... 5 consoles right?

Did you have em connected to TVs or monitors?

Nope, 10 consoles. We had them connected to whatever people brought over. Two people has them on monitors, two on projectors, and the rest TV's.

I lugged over my 32" LCD HDTV.

It was a blast. We do this kind of thing every month or so.

The multiplayer setup is almost exactly like Halo2/3. Party up and travel between preset matches against other parties. I personally love it that way.

I am currently playing Horde right now. My teams haven't been to good so far. Only gotten to wave 6 on Normal.

I love the game. Single player rocks. The graphics rock. Gameplay is the first one tweaked to perfection.
