Forums - Sony - White Knight Chronicles is already getting TV spots in Japan

This commercial started airing on 11/6, apparently:

The game doesn't actually come out until December 25th.

The CG looks cool, but they also used fugly footage of the online mode.  At least they're letting people know the mode exists.

Imagine if SCEA or SCEE advertised games with dedicated commercials two months in advance of release.  I can't help but think how well games like Uncharted wouldv'e sold.

Personally, I think WKC will be Level 5's best selling game after DQVIII.  They've gained some notoriety over the years (especially in Japan), and it's the first game they've worked on with SCE that's actually getting some serious marketing (because Sony knows they need this game, lol).

Here's some cool concept art:

Great, hopefully it will sell really well.

cool!

Sony need to aquire Level 5 Now.

The online mose doesn't look as good as the single player mode in terms of graphics but that's not suprising since online requires using a network so graphic quality had to be sacrificed in online mode. Single player mode on the other hand looks very good in terms of graphics.

Oh I know.  :P

The single player looks great, imo.  Aside from the blurry ground textures.

I wonder how many resources it cost for them to go 1080p, and how those resources could've been used elsewhere.  I would've preferred 720p and some other improvements.

I really wanna know what the hype level for this game in Japan is though.

is it a big as Last Remnant....lower.....higher?

I would probably say that as of right now, the hype level for WKC is sighly higher than TLR in Japan.  In the West, WKC is way more hyped than TLR as far as I can tell.

If TGS attendees are anything to go by, definitely higher.  From Wired.com:

Tokyo Game Show organizer CESA has announced its best of show winners, under the "Future Division" banner, awarded to unreleased titles.

Twelve titles have made the cut -- voted on by attendees -- and they cover all consoles except for the PlayStation 2.

Without further ado, this year's winners are:

  • Idolmaster SP - PSP (Namco Bandai)
  • Gyakuten Kenji - Nintendo DS (Capcom)
  • White Knight Chronicles - PS3 (Sony)
  • Star Ocean: The Last Hope - Xbox 360 (Square Enix)
  • Dissidia Final Fantasy - PSP (Square Enix)
  • Dragon Quest IX - Nintendo DS (Square Enix)
  • Resident Evil 5 - Xbox 360/PS3 (Capcom)
  • Monster Hunter 3 - Wii (Capcom)
  • 428 - Wii (Sega)
  • LittleBigPlanet - PS3 (Sony)
  • Yakuza 3 - PS3 (Sony)
  • Let's Tap - Wii (Sega)

I wonder if it's a coincidence that all winning publishers also happened to have the biggest booths at the show.

Really, we're comparing Level 5's best to Square Enix's worst.  Given Level 5's notoriety these days in Japan after Dragon Quest VIII, Prof. Layton, etc., it was expected.

@Riachu

good......I'm not using JP amazon as any indication but WKC is only 2 spots behind TLR right now despite being a month later in release....I call that impressive.

I just hope the game is a great JRPG!!
