Forums - Nintendo - Sega: Wii Is "The Most Expensive Board Game On Earth"

SamuelRSmith,

you took this board game comparison a bit too far. you are taking what the sega guy said about when people play their games as fact. he is no way backed up his statement with any evidence. the wii is not a boardgame. so using his statement to claim that wii games have less average playtime than hd games is just stupid. you're trying to base your made up stats off of one person's opinion. thats like me saying that snes sold the most software of any system ever because its my favorite system. a made up stat based on an opinion.

some people definitely don't play their wii a whole lot. just like any system some people buy it and don't play it a lot. although for the wii that number is probably a bit higher precisely because it is selling to non-gamers, just the type of people who got a system cuz they played a couple great games on it but they aren't gamers so they are only gonna get a new game every so often when they happen to see one that catches their eye. my parents got a wii, having never owned a system before, and they bought madden '07 and link's crossbow training for it. they've both played wii sports a ton and my mom played a lot of link's CT, they never really played madden. but they haven't played any games in a while other than when me or my brother come home because they are non gamers so they played those games quite a bit for a few months but then haven't picked up a title since because they don't pay attention to what games come out. but, they would have never picked up a 360 or ps3 because those systems have no games that they would even buy in the first place.

but on the flip side you have a lot of wii gamers are hardcore gamers or kids who not only play the same type of games that the hd systems cater to, but they also have these wii sport-like casual games that are really fun and great multiplayer games so these gamers play their normal amount plus play extra with non gamers.

so i'd say for some people yeah they barely play the wii, but those are also the people who bring down the attach rate. while the rest of wii gamers which is probably higher than the install base of either of the hd systems probably buys lots of games and plays them regularly, if not more often than people with just hd systems because the wii has more than just really short single player games and a few great online games. afterall, how much playtime do you think a standard fare high budget, high selling, less than 10 hour hd game is gonna get. not nearly as much time as the wii's many party games which can be played over and over again and don't lost their fun after they've been played for 10-20 hours. only the hd games that are really good online games can probably match the average good wii party game in terms of average playtime. i know i haven't played a game as much as i played wii sports since probably goldeneye or maybe mario kart:DD.

Y'know... I really wasn't being serious. I assumed people would be able to get that from " they only get it out at Christmas to distract everyone from the fact that they hate each and every member of the family, and the awkward silence must be stopped."

But, hey, yeah, whatever.

First of all, the Wii sell more software than the PS3 NOT including Wii Sports (i just want to clarify this point)

Now.. Damnit people read the interview!!

Not including Wii sport? Hell not including Wii fit, MK Wii and Wii play too it still blow the PS3 software out of the water

Persons without argument hide behind their opinion

The sad thing about the Kotaku article wasn't the replies of the 360 or PS3 diehards. They probably won't change their mind on the Wii, anyway.

What is saddening are the Wii owners who started bashing SEGA without bothering reading the whole interview and understanding the whole context of the quote in question.

They were like saying SEGA games has always been shitty anyway, or that SEGA is an ingrate even when they made money publishing titles for the Wii. They are sourgraping, without even understanding it. *sigh*

Oh, well. Thank you Kotaku for making future SEGA titles for the Wii flop.

Hey sega, did I say you can talk?
No, get back to work.

Just Sega of America, nothing to see here...

Actually, there is. If you had read the article, you would know. :P

The BuShA owns all!

I want to end this on a positive note:

Sega is doing awesome right now and recently has had a big turnaround when it comes to delivering games. They are putting in an effort to cater to the "good ol' fans" that we think so many companies have seemed to have forgotten.

Support Sega in 2009. The building blocks to a return in glory begin in several weeks, with the release of the next Sonic game.

Leatherhat on July 6th, 2012 3pm. Vita sales:"3 mil for COD 2 mil for AC. Maybe more. "  thehusbo on July 6th, 2012 5pm. Vita sales:"5 mil for COD 2.2 mil for AC."

Wrong. He didn't mean core gamers with a Wii.

EDIT: Assuming you meant those.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

If you 80% believe that the Wii is also for the "core" gamer, why'd you sell yours? Jumped the gun?
