Forums - Sales - help me, I can't still understand the reason why wii is selling so much

Wetcoaster: don't take "The Mr Endiadi" too seriously. I'm about 99% convinced now that this is completely fake -- not Italian, *certainly* not 35.

Just another troll.

There are virtually no hardcore gamers like you that own a Wii. Zero. Real hardcore gamers like you play 360 or PS3, preferably both at the same time. Sure Wii sells well, but more like a fad for non gamers, like the HoolahHoop in the 20's. Hardcore gaming still has only one option: HD.

Real hardcore gamers like you also can't stand to play the good old games from the past anymore. Those are not HD. Damn, some of them even have sprites. That's not hardcore at all. Mega Man 9, don't make me laugh. I mean Chrono Trigger: that's sooo 1990's.

No the Wii has nothing to offer but ports like RE4 and Okami. And we all know those are shitty games. I mean they were nice a couple of years ago, but now stories have become so much better and gameplay so much more immersive. They try to hide their age by being widescreen and progressive scan, but we all know the truth...

BengaBenga speaks the truth here people. Listen to this man-beast.

As a hardcore gamer, I've come to the realization that my purchasing of the Wii was a terrible mistake. Like many of you, I was seduced by the promises of hardcore games on the console, but it was all a lie. After 2 years of waiting, I still have yet to see a game on Wii that isn't a waggle fest of kiddy shenanigans. My Wii is my best vaccuum cleaner at this point in time, as it collects dust like a champ. Which led me to this realization:

The Wii sells so well to the Non-gamer crowd not for its "Casual appeal" (A damage control excuse made up by Nintendo fanboys to hide the truth) but because it is an excellent dust collector. Soccer moms, grandmas, parent, little girls... they all want tidy rooms and houses, and what better way can someone collect all of that dust than by using a Wii? It is the perfect example of why Wii is selling so well, and why you're seeing companies such as Oreck Vaccuums' marketshare dwindle. You've heard Nintendo themselves that Wii does not compete with the true console contenders of this generation. It's true, as Wii competes with the vaccuum corporations of the world.

Ive never been a fan of nintendo either, I only own a gameboy advance, and NES and SNES.. After that Sony just.. owned.
Ive grown up with all the sony consoles, And In MY opinion I think the Wii sells so much is because it's part of Nintendo, The game's are just, not that good at all.

You're clueless. Try thinking before coming up with a response.

Hint: Look at the GC sales.

So I guess you never cared to play Mario Kart, Super Smash Bros Brawl, Metroid Prime 3, Battalion Wars 2, and the list goes on and on......  Also, there are a few decent 3rd party games and more to come.

Oh, but i have played those. My cousin has a Wii he's 12, and he has all those games you listed.

I find it interesting that the OP mentions an American-only console (Magnovox -- which I believe is the Odyssey 2) and a UK/Euro home computer (Spectrum 48K).

What it sounds like is the OP went from early consoles into computers after the crash and didn't pick up consoles until the PS1. That is possible. I am almost 10 years older and went from Intellivision (with a short burst of a Coleco Adam) to the C64 to PCs. My younger sister had an Atari 2600 and later a Genesis. So no Nintendo stuff around (I remember seeing it in stores and having nothing but disdain for it).

I rediscovered classic gaming during the Summer of Carts (1994) and started buying pre-crash systems. I eventually got newer, neo-classics. Currently, I have over 30 different systems, from pong machines to a Wii.

The Wii is not everyone's taste. If you are into cutting edge graphics and shooting/blowing up things, then it does not have much to offer. But for many, especially gamers outside the male 18-35 demographic, its varied lineup is appealing.

For one, they have fixed issues that indignated the GC.

The price is (or was, when released) way below the other two consoles.

It's Nintendo.

It released with a GREAT bundled game, Wii Sports.

The reason, however, that made the Wii such a success is the fact that it included motion sensing. What you hear from adult people and the more elderly in regards of the Wii is "Yeah it's the game where you can move and stuff". They may not have any idea of what the Wii does, who makes the Wii or what games are on the Wii. The simple fact that the console detects motion makes it that much more simpler than any other console to use for those who have never played. An outstanding example has to be my dad. He never liked my N64, GC, Xboc or anything before them. He would, at most, sit behind me and see me play. Now, he comes in my room or the living room and says "let me try it" and plays, even if it's for just 2 minutes, those 120 seconds are more than what any other console before the Wii have done, and that I consider to be a great, GREAT step.

That is the reason the Wii sells so much, along with the fact it has great games, attractive to kids, teens, young adults and adults. To say the Wii is the ONLY console to attracts kids 12 and under may hold true to a certain degree, but this statement doesn't mean it wont be, or is, appealing to the other, more reserved, demographic: adults.

it sells cause its awesome
