Forums - Gaming - Killzone 2 V.S Halo Wars (Feb 09 Battle)

Killzone 2 will sell more for sure in Europe and I think Halo Wars will sell more in NA. Come on Masterchief is in Fable II and Fable II sells one million first week =p.

The Killzone franchise has barely broken a million units, I think I'll go with Halo Wars.

I think it's only PS3 fanboys who think there is no RTS market for consoles. I take it that's why EA released LOTR BFME2, C&C 3 + Kanes Wrath as well as the upcoming Red Alert 3 on the 360.

Then there is Universe at War, Supreme Commander, Warhammer, Endwar and the up and coming Stormrise which is looking promising. RTS is a growing market on consoles and with the huge Xbox Live audience, developers know they have a large audience that would love to get to grips with this genre of gaming.

I have never really enjoyed a console RTS, and as an avid fan of the Strategy genre, I can safely say that most console RTS titles are gimped compared to their PC counterparts (especially so in some cases, like that of Supreme Commander).

Those buying RTS on the 360 are casual RTS players at best, and there's a reason why no RTS has yet broken the 520k mark on the console (though Halo Wars surely will).

I suggest you play a game on PS2 called GrimGrimoire, from the makers of Odin Sphere. It manages to naiil the controls, but its gameflow is designed more like Disgaea than Warcraft III.

Again, the RTS genre, I kinda hate. Real time is just frusterating in a strategy game, especially when said game has no real "good" controlling solutions even at this late date in the history of gaming. The scale of the action would never allow for a human opponent to control an army as efficiently as a well written AI program could. Kinda like playing chess with a 3 minute time limit.

The reason is obvious. The only good control method for a RTS is via a strategical mini-map, moving large numbers of units at once. However, the quandry lies in the fact that instead of actually playing the RTS, you'd be playing the mini-map..which reviewers and gamers would hate.

GrimGrimoire is about as good a RTS on a console that there has ever been. It manages to deliver a fantastic ahd humerous narrative, as well.

The DS also has a decent, but not spectacular RTS lite called Reverant Wings, that I had the misfortune of purchasing, thinking the genre might appeal to me in my later years.

Anyway, yes, it's incorrect to assume all stategy games on a console are "casual." Inferior controls, perhaps. There are quite a few games that feature a ton of depth.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

Haha well brand is on Halo's sided. I mean KZ comes from a sublime franchise on the PS2 and PSP with a better hyped 7th gen counterpart while Halo Wars comes from a huge Xbox property that has sold loads. I mean it's in favor of Halo Wars as far as I'm concerned.

People are saying come on halo is an FPS they won't buy an RTS. haha well mario was a platformer they'd never buy a racer. And now I like at Mario Kart sales and it's one of the most successful spinoff brands ever created. Now a lot of that can be contributed to it just being a great racer but the "Mario" in the name helped ALOT. Yoshi Kart Racing would not have sold as well even if it was the same game.

Halo Wars will do something similar as long as Xbox gamers aren't that finicky which with genres sometimes they can be. It's not surprise that the 3 best selling games on the 360 are shooters.

All of this is meaning brand will carry Halo Wars as it's mainstream. Nothing about the Killzone brand will carry it. It has to soley rely on hype and marketing which is usually great for openers but doesn't mean a damn thing after the first few weeks if it doesn't become mainstream. Which is why Resistance 2 is in a lot better shape because it became mainstream. Luckily it's not hard for a shooter to become mainstream.

So sales wise who will win? Looking like Halo Wars but I never underestimate Americans and their lust for run of the mill shooters so it should be close between the 2.

Define sublime, because I think you confused it with another descriptive that begins with the letter "S."

Is that all you got out of that post.  It's more than likely used incorrectly considering sublime means outstanding.  But there is nothing more that pisses me off then people who not only read one part of my post but do it because of a grammatical error. Don't correct me on my grammar because I know it's bad and read the post.  There's not to many things that piss me off but that's one of them... don't nitpick my posts especially when it comes to grammar because I'm hoping your smart enough to know what I mean and if your not just ask.  Don't be snarky.

Now subpar was probably a better word if you are really having this many issues.

KILLZONE 2 will kill Halo wars in sales and reviews

It will kill x360 in february 2009

No x360 game can dare launch against KZ2---it is that good a game

of course KZ2 will own, FPS games dominate the US, RTS is dead right now ESPECIALLY ON CONSOLES...

KZ1 sold 2 m units and it was a BAD GAME

Halo wars is an RTS....no one wants RTS

KZ2 will outsell HALO 3/Gears 2....it is that good a game

By that time the difference betweeen PS3 and X360 will be vast

I dont think x360 will remain in the market after KZ2's launch

Nothing on x360 comes remotely close to KZ2 in gameplay as well as graphics
